FLIP SIDE OF THE COIN: Thank you for keeping up skyriding

I LOVE, and I mean LOVE, skyriding!!!

Sorry if it makes you bark or have medical issues, but I have neither and it has made flying an actual aspect I enjoy doing rather than just a means of transport. I love that it’s still so present in war within and appears to be an ever green feature rather than being expansion specific. I suddenly have a whole set of fun casual side content for me to enjoy and being able to complete quests and achievements at times just doing races is excellent.

Preach. Adding skyririding was the best thing ever.

  1. I can finally fly from the beginning of the expansion.
  2. It’s much more enjoyable to fly!
  3. MY. BOOK. FLIES!!!
  4. Zones are now so large and beautiful. Cities look like legitimate cities now, instead of squashed up boxes.

If they got rid of Skyriding it would have been their single biggest mistake ever.

I agree with OP.

Every expansion Blizzard tries out new features. Some are hits and some are misses.

Skyriding is one of the biggest hits.

In my opinion it’s the best new feature of Dragonflight by far, and the best feature added to the game since Vanilla flying was added nearly 18 years ago.

If you like Skyriding, wait till you get to the quest Titanic Failsafe, where your mount has weapons.

I wish they used those abilities more in lots of different quests.

Skyriding likely saved the game post Shadowlands tbh.

Well I can tell you do not do much questing because you blow through Vigor with all the take offs / landing you do while questing in a short period of time.

Steady flying is much better for questing, it is not something you can debate. It is like comparing a helicopter to a glider.

Dragon Gliding in only good for those long point A to B flight trips that don’t require re-mounting shortly after you land, allowing your vigor to recharge.

A tip if you don’t enjoy it…

Don’t use Surge Forward unless you’re at the highest you can be.

Only use Skyward Ascent. Up is better than forward, because down is how you charge Vigor.

u aren’t wrong, blizz needed a really big play after the SL dumpster fire and this was it

Skyriding is probably the best thing they’ve ever added to the game

Yea I like it too (I liked it in GW2), I personally just happen to think the alternative should be available as well, maybe with a few nerfs. Like hovering should eventually make you drop (slowly) so people don’t take advantage of the afk mechanism, perhaps.

I know not that many people know this, because it’s PvP/Warmode, but if you use your barrel-roll ability and it hits another player on their flying mount, they are dismounted mid-air.

I love aerial PvP lol, it’s pretty funny.

It took me a total of about 40 minutes to unlock pathfinder and tbc flying.

It took me a total of four seconds to decide I will never use tbc flying again.

Don’t want to be rude, but this is probably a skill issue. So long as you never land with 0 vigor you should never run out even with frequent short scampers while questing.

I love the races. Like, I legitimately do this stuff first in a zone because I like them so much.

And, I will admit that I didn’t love skyriding right away in DF. But, I’ve since learned, that it was because I couldn’t use the very awesome mounts I have collected over the years. So, now that I can do that, I very much enjoy it!

Happy you guys like it but now that I have “steady” flying I will not be rocket flying again until the next patch. It’s a combination of the lack of skill and really enjoying tourist mode in the open world as I’m retired and I’m not in a hurry to get anywhere.

Once again, happy so many people do enjoy what it has brought to their gaming experience. It looks like Blizz has hit home runs with mini-games such as the new flying as well as the remixes and contained events such as Plunderstorm. I’m very happy with what they’ve made available to us solo open world players and it looks like many win-win situations for most of us, even with the tone def adjustment to damage after early access was over rather.

I really like now that we can use the other mounts being able to use a smaller mount for the races where you can see a lot more of what’s in front of you without having to go first person

Not having any trouble with vigor questing on my evoker, mage or hunter.

Also, I really like evoker’s “Soar” ability for mining. Unlike with a regular mount, casting Soar launches you off the ground with a free (no vigor cost) Skyward Ascent. Soar’s vigor savings really add up when hitting mining nodes every 10 seconds.
