Flightstones

Maybe I’m just really bored with the game at the moment, and the notion of trying to play alts with any seriousness is non-existent, but I am at a point where theoretically I could use these crafting fragments to create sparks to upgrade gear for an alt, and trying to come up with 250 to do so feels like a real drag, never mind what’s needed to upgrade any other piece of gear.

So, a few things:

(1) Flightstones are a big chore to grind, especially in the quantity required to use a crafting spark, which at this point feel faster to acquire than flightstones themselves. That sucks, and feels like a big drag. I think that there should be at least 250 in the weekly rep quest in Valdrakken, which would also keep that quest relevant to the current season. Putting a chonk of flightstones in the rotating weekly would also be swell.

(2) Could you please ramp up flightstone rewards as the season progresses? As interest in playing the game wanes over the season, the upgrade and crafting system feels more like a slog, and effectively becomes a deterrent to engaging in the game. It encourages me to play other games, which is fine and healthy for me, but I’m certain is something Blizz would like to make better for themselves.

(3) 250 flightstones to craft is a lot. How about 150? 100? Flightstones suck!

My confusion with threads like this are always…why do you want to gear characters you don’t play? Flight stones are not that hard to acquire with a little playtime. Both M+ and raiding give reasonable amounts and would help you gear your alt as you earned them.

I have the opposite issue where I have a ton of Flightstones but content has gotten to the point where I need to do +16’s to progress my gear. I’d rather spam +11s to make crests.

How about as the season progresses they reduce flightstones needed to make sparks and uncap the amount of crests you can get (at a reasonable time though - maybe 10-14 weeks into a season?)

I’d give you my Flightstones if I could. Capped on two and third on like 1500 atm.

Should be some type of achievement.

Collect 10,000 flightstones on main

Increases Flightstone drops by 200% on alts.

Kindve like how renown catchups for alts work.

I understand what you are saying. The disconnect for me I guess, and this is totally open to criticism, is that I want to have an alt to play with my friends in proximity to my main (the character I’m logged into now in this post), and the alt is soooooo far behind that putting in what feels like chorish work just to use upgrade materials that I theoretically otherwise have makes me not want to play.

It used to be the case that you could have friends carry you through raid or M+ and you’d get drops that would bring your ilvl up quickly. That is much less the case now - they will make you grind, darn it!

(Also I can’t bring alts to raid while my sweet guild is already reclearing normal for the sake of us platies trying to get the axe, which we’ve seen drop zero times for six eligible characters so far.)

You can still do this. I got plate stacked last week for a few low keys.

Yup, you can definitely still do this. M+ is still personal loot so you can influence what drops. Not only that, but it easier than ever so carrying someone through 15s (or higher) is a breeze.

We do the same every week, but multiple people bring alts and switch at the last boss

Yeah. Maybe the truth is I just don’t feel enough like playing.

I’ve geared 5 characters over 480 this season and I’ve never been short on flightstones. I don’t actively farm them either. Whatever comes from M+ and the Emerald Dream has been more than enough.

I am always capped or have none, the max amount should be much much higher. Drop could also be bumped up some.

You nailed it. Things come pretty easily… but you will always have to play to get them. Your complaint comes from not really wanting to play THAT much to get them.

Honestly I don’t like the added flightstone cost to make the sparks. They didn’t have it last season, and they added this season, I’m guessing to slow down how quickly people can craft gear, but when you are gearing a character and are having to choose between upgrading pieces and saving to make a spark, it just kills it all for me.

I don’t understand. Its the same progression they use at the end of every expansion. I just run the quests i missed and hit the dailies in the area. Everyone is geared enough to hit LFR.

PS. I love doing the seed things.

You can gear up an alt very quickly in DF season 3. Have your friends run you through a few M+, you’ll get a vault piece at worst, emerald dream stuff, weekly valdrakken quest stuff, crafted stuff, Timewalking if available, buy some BoA pieces on your main from the M+ vendor in the M+ portal area. I think they cost 350 flightstones iirc, raid finder etc.

You can get going from a fresh 70 very quickly if you want to.

the game generates friction, which is usually not that pleasant.

all things can be overcome, but can encourage customers to leave the game for other activities.

if you’re a happy customer, don’t overlook other customers may not be you…

I just don’t worry about it for the most part. I don’t try to maximize my gear week to week. I do a dungeon, maybe get an upgrade, but mostly just get 2 slots on my weekly box and get an upgrade most of the time.

My main has gotten 2500 this season without fussing too much over making sure my gear is the absolute best it can be.

I wish gear was just account wide, especially if I have to regear every patch, I don’t want to do it every time I want to enjoy playing an alt with my friends. Most of the time my alts feel like a carry even if I’m playing well because of low gear. Lots of times I am interested in playing an alt and I remember the ridiculous crest grind, crafting gear gold cost, need to find crafters, need to get more aspect crests and flightstones on top of the gold, and just log out.

Something to do with alts in all of this downtime.

Why not? Then they’re ready for the next expansion.

Something many of us don’t do with alts.

So flightstones aren’t that easy for alts. I have to keep repeating the Emerald Dream questline and treasure hunt.

Idk I can get 750 flightstones in like 45minutes by doing researchers/superbloom and the fyrakk assault. it’s not that hard…

This isn’t a “final answer”, but do you raid at all or do keys? The first few weeks of this season I strugged to farm flightstones. but once we started normal and then heroic and some keys my flightstones are usually capped.

A higher cap? I vote YES PLZ…
