No flight whistle this X-pac.

Flight coming 9.1

The reason we’re not getting a flight whistle, is so players have to travel more thus another way to time-gate via Blizzard. So fun! right? /s :frowning:

Agreed. I’m intentionally not doing some world quests just because of the travel restrictions.

Why does everything have to be instant? I play Classic and part of the fun is experiencing the world. I get people want to get their rewards ASAP but if you could slow down a bit and enjoy it for what it is, you might be happier about your experience. I was hoping whistles would make a come back, but after I read they weren’t, just meant I had to hearth or ride to the flight path. Not a huge deal. I found new quests and rare mobs along the way. It’s not all bad.

I dont think its that bad travelling around without the whistle.

It would be nice but its not needed

It’s not instant an if you want your adventure to take longer feel free to not use it and just run around

They designed the experience without whistles. The game is fine without them. Why does everything that is ‘convenient’ must remain in a MMORPG? Players are always asking for it, but if everything is too convenient, the experience starts to feel bland. Why do you think so many players wanted to play Classic again? There is an argument that the developers gave players too much convenience.

I’m mostly playing devil’s advocate. I’m fine with them existing or not existing. But I do prefer the vanilla, tbc, wrath era of WoW over this modern version.

Flight Master whistle is truly a stupid bandaid. We need to be able to gain flying after doing a few quests in that zone.

I’m still leveling, but there are plenty of flight paths in the zones i’ve been to. not sure what the issue is

Agreed , it’s pretty dumb we don’t even get the whistle.

In live we actually have things to do, so we don’t need to experience the world for fun.

Honestly, I think it is less about timegating and more about having the players experience the world.

The game is already fast food enough. I don’t mind my character actually having to physically move around the zones sometimes…

Lol. There are a lot of things to do in Classic. You just have to actively seek it out rather than letting the LFG button do everything for you.

I honestly don’t even miss it this expac, the terrain is much more streamlined other than the Vamp Lands

Yeah, kind of in the same boat myself. The flight master’s whistle is one of the few conveniences I actually really liked.

If you have to force the players to experience the world, it’s a bad world.

Can’t really compare the vanilla experience to live. Vanilla zones weren’t designed with flight in mind. For the most part, a lot of the zones are flat, with little to no obstacles with regards to the terrain.

WoD-onward, the zones seemed to be designed with flight in mind, while making pathfinder the carrot-on-a-stick to get players to log on every day to do whatever was necessary to complete it.

The Flight Master’s Whistle was a decent compromise for that time before flight gets unlocked. Since they seemed to have continued with the same type of design for zones in SL, not sure why they felt the need to eliminate the whistle. Other than to drag out the experience.

Blizzard had to take the whistle out so they can pad the TimePlayed and “Engagement” metric to report to shareholders. They’re so transparent that it’s honestly depressing.

They literally redid the vanilla zones with flight in mind in cata.

Wrath, Cata, and MoP had zones that were designed with actual flight in mind. Cata was completely designed with flight the entire time.

Legion onward is not designed at all with flight in mind. They’re designed knowing you’re grounded and can go wild putting barriers and other nonsense like high mob density in your way to contend with for months. They’re terrible zones that are only tolerable after flight and they did everything they could to keep it from you for as long as they could.

The terrain is okay enough that I don’t miss it as much. But if Pathfinder hadn’t been nerfed to 9.1, I’d be screaming.

If I may ask, have they confirmed this in writing? Or just hinted at it? I have trust issues with them lol.
