I’ve noticed Flight Form has been tied to other travel forms. I’m finding this very annoying because instead of being able to spam the hotkey to shift as soon as you’re able, you end up shifting into a form you didn’t want. Is there an addon or macro that can make this work like it used to?
So, kinda. The half way answer I’ve found is buying the Tome of the Wilds: Mount Form from Amurra Thistledew in Dreamgrove. There is a BIG catch to this and in some ways I wish I’d never bought it, so bear with me.
This item gives you a permanent shapeshift option for just the rideable ground mount. In Skyreach, you are able to use this rideable shapeshift to carry a teammate through the windy hallway… but in Temple of Sethraliss, where you could carry the snake eye in travel form, you cannot carry it in mount form. My point: This variation of ground mount form interacts slightly inconsistently with the environment, but it’s mostly only usable where any other ground mount is usable.
Second – and this absolutely breaks my brain – the coding to shapeshift into Mount Form as opposed to travel form is also inconsistently different. When swapping from bear to cat, you just… swap from bear to cat. But some forms swapping into Mount Form, causes you to swap into caster form first and wait out a GCD.
So, if you want the option to swap into Mount Form, just make sure you want the buggy, questionable version of it available, because once you’ve purchased and learned the form, you are stuck with it. I personally hated the shaky interactions so much that I opened a ticket asking them to undo this learned spell, and the GMs were unable to do that. Now my main is stuck with a buggy shapeshift button.
i am not sure that there is a real work around. it puts you into the form that is immediately available and doesn’t always automatically switch to other forms.
I find the biggest issues is in those areas where flight form is not available so it puts you in travel form. when you get to a spot where flight form becomes available, it doesn’t swap you into it.
