So I was watching Mitch Jones stream earlier and saw him duel a hunter to the death and the hunter was able to flee the duel… what’s the deal with this? Working as intended?
I feel like a duel to the death should be as it’s titled with no option to flee… if someone flees it should still have them as enemies until one person or the other eventually gets the kill even if it takes days, weeks, months or whenever randomly running into said person in the world.
Damn I hate that, I feel like it would be so cool if the duel lasted until someone died and you can flee if you want but it sets up to where if you run into the player you’re dueling in the world its game on. Feel like that would create such a fun pvp dynamic without being over the top and also give that feeling of having rivals out in the world
Wow, I’m just upset finding out they’re completely disabling the honor system. Now there’s really no reason to be flagged at all.
Was kind of hoping you could still gain honor and there would be some crazy souls willing to try open PvP, but with no reward at all… Just don’t see that being a thing.
Yeah it would be nice to see some reward for flagging yourself for PvP.
I really wish they didn’t completely disable PvP but I get not wanting to put extra work in. I think a good compromise would be have deaths in BGs not “count” when you finish the game, but while you’re in BG if you die you can’t res. So to win you would either complete objectives or kill the entire enemy team.
This is the real loss - open world.
Bgs are meh. Death still needs to mean something and disabling death or having it not count in bgs is dishonest imo.
Leaving the ability in the open world for fully consensual pvp with honor gain would have been a nod to those wanting to experience hc with pvp factored in and be meaningful. Not to mention a possible avenue to rewards should enough elect the danger.
Would have been very fun to watch this play out… big risk big rewards would make for a really interesting dynamic. Wpvp is one of the best parts of vanilla wow
That’s the thing, they mention or quoted the power of PvP items being a reason they disabled BGs and such, but why not then still allow honor gain for them? Huge risk in open world PvP for these super good rewards.
Beyond that, and I know they’re somehow changing the honor/rank system, but how impressive would it be to see people with high PvP titles? They’d be easier to gain since not many people would be doing it, but you would have two types of PvPers and badges of skill. You’d have your faction soldiers with their rank, and the free for all gladiators with their ear strings.
Exactly what I was hoping for. Would be so f’n fun to flee a duel then always have to be on the look out for a rival in the world, imagine doing this 5-10x and having 5-10 players in the world you always have to be on lookout for.
Make a debuff version of string of ears, but a permanent (stacking) mark of cowardice instead. Would go a long ways in helping people decide if they want to duel to the death with somebody random.
Reminds me of the movie The Deulists, except they didn’t flee lol. But kept having duels throughout history…pretty awesome movie if no one has seen it. I absolutely love the dueling option they are adding. Would be awesome if fleeing gave a debuff or something lmao.
I would love if they removed the range of duels and allowed it to work that way. Even being able to queue up multiple - 3 musketeers style lol.
Makes it like a bounty system or something. Would be a lot of fun having to watch your back all the time. Reminds me of open world PvP games like Darkfall Online was.
It’d be nice to specifically do it with dueling though as you can pick people closer to your level instead of getting ganked by rando-level 60 1 shots. Picking duels with players ±a few levels would be a lot more fun with open-world pvp.
