Flask of Distilled Wisdom Spam

Recently, top speedrunning guilds have begun using Flasks of Distilled Wisdom to essentially gain infinite mana. They do this by cancelauraing the flask when at 0 mana and consuming a new flask, instantly gaining the 2000 mana benefit. This can be repeated and the flask just serves as a 200g mana potion. Is this intended behavior or is it something that we can expect to see hotfixed?

(edit: Note that I do not have a problem with this being the allowed nor is this a complaint post. Valid runs on WCL are based on what is allowed by Blizzard. If Blizz decides to remove flask chugging, any runs that make use of it would become invalidated. Personally want to avoid a situation where we put up a good time and get screwed over if it can be avoided via blue post confirmation that the technique is/isn’t “intended”.)

If they want to spend 200g for a mana pot, more power to them. Who cares

These tryhard guilds sure are pathetic lol. Too bad they are 16 years late to the “race”

If its an exploit or unintended mechanic it should be fixed, just like flask for warriors and stacking WBs but GL getting them to fix it.

People are actually doing this? Holy tauren :poop: that’s such a waste. All that to trim 10 seconds off their speed run. Yikes :grimacing:

Mmm yes, finally a way to make elemental shaman viable in raids,

The only class I could see doing this would be mages and they’re rich enough to do it!

Lmao you guys complain about the dumbest things

I wish I were rich enough to pay 200 g per mana pot. Of course…if I were I wouldn’t use the gold in that manner

Who cares.

If you wanna sperg out speedrun go for it.

Also is it really that much more insane than having 20 rank 14 Warriors?

they are clearly propping up the rwt economy if this is a regular thing

No. Just no. You don’t get to say X is wrong because they are probably doing Y. Either X is wrong, or it isn’t. Y is it’s own separate discussion.

I didn’t make any comment on X, I did tangent the discussion into Y

if they want to spend an insane amount of gold each raid night, more power to them - so long as they’re obtaining it through legitimate means.

as a holy paladin I laugh at silly concepts such as going “oom” or this “drinking” thing everyone keeps talking about. So I can’t even think of why you’d do this.

well, if they’re looking to figure out what accounts are botting, who is participating in rmt, and who is buying said gold, this would be an excellent place to start.

Dang I wonder what you have to say to the people that enjoy speedrunning old NES games…

Enjoy your 2 day BWL clears.

people who care about what other people are doing so much are pathetic actually.

That makes zero sense since most boss fights are killed way before any speed runner would even approach mana issues

It’s for the speed run, not a speed kill.

It decreases time spent drinking between pulls, which makes the whole run faster.

They do not do this for the bosses, in speed runs it’s all about getting through the trash quickly. So it means less downtime to drink for healers.
