Flashing Graphics Bug in Shadowlands Zones

So over the last week or so, I’ve been having a really hard to deal with graphics glitch in the new Shadowlands zones, other than Oribos. It started with just some colors flashing as I ran through the zones, and now it’s become a serious issue where most of the textures of shadows and lighting in the zones are constantly flashing like a strobe light, Ardenweald being the worst.

All my drivers are up to date, I’ve tried turning the graphics all the way down, I’ve tried turning all my add ones off. Nothing seems to work and I can’t find anyone else seeming to have this issue. If anyone knows a fix to this please do let me know, it’s causing headaches and eye strain at this point. Again this is ONLY happening in the Shadowlands zones and was not occurring the first week or two of the expansion.

I have the same bug. I normally play at 10, but I’ve tried different settings. I only notice it in Ardenweald , mainly things that are lit-up, (lights)

Why aren’t there more posts on this topic. Its getting progressively worse now for me. Blizzard is blaming Nvidia and when I contacted Nvidia was like “iono what to tell you”.

It’s the latest Nvidia driver. Roll back to the previous one if you can.

It’s nVidia’s "Game Ready Driver"s released for Cyberpunk 2077. You will have to roll back the two most recent driver updates, if that’s possible. A temporary fix is to toggle MSAA on or off whenever you see the flickering. But the problem will come back.

Definitely has to be an nVidia issue. This year has been horrible for their driver updates for me. Seems like I have graphics issues and crashes with each new release. I’ve gotten to the point that when I have a stable set of drivers that aren’t causing graphical errors or complete crashes, that I don’t want to even update anymore.

It’s 100% the last one or two driver updates that caused this “flashing” of certain textures, I tried tons of graphics options to stop it all that usually happens is it stops for a short bit till you zone somewhere else or log out and in then its back. Like others have mentioned go back 1 or 2 drivers should be fine till its fixed.

See link this issue is posted on nVidia’s site they know about it.

I downgraded to 457.51 drivers

Not sure how to downgrade my drivers but yeah I had a feeling it may be nVidia freaking out… hoping 2021 comes with a fix patch for this. It’s bad but not insanely bad for me… doesn’t happen as often but yeah Ardenweald strobes out a ton. Really weird when flora flashes but…I’m just glad I don’t got to worry about health issues from flashing textures. Sad is it is to say I’m just glad I’m not alone here

Switching to DX11 from 12 fixed it for me. Its definitely driver issue.

I tried changing Shadow Quality from Ultra high to Low (I have a RTX 2080) and it seems to have fixed the issue.

It seems like going to Advanced Settings and changing the GPU from Auto-Detect to your graphics card fixes the problem. It has worked thus far on my 2080.

EDIT: only worked for a while. Manually downloaded and installed the drivers from three updates ago and the flickering has been gone since.

Gonna try this, my other fix of setting DX12 back to DX11 and then back to DX12 only seemed to work temporarily.

I hope NVIDIA is working on a solution with Blizzard, because either way this is absolutely unacceptable.

Its definitely caused by the latest 2 NVidia drivers. In typical fashion NVidia and Blizzard will likely argue whos fault it is until someone fixes it.

You can roll back the driver to get rid of it completely or muddle with some settings to make it a bit better.

Unfortunately those of us playing Cyberpunk need the updated driver and just have to put up with the flickering in WoW until its better.

Is there any news if NVIDIA is aware and fixing this? I tried looking it up but had no luck with anything official being stated.

I like to think at least someone started talking about it on the NVIDIA forums, either way lets get the message out there.

The nVidia forums are full of spam posts for illegally obtaining prescription drugs. I doubt the company cares about the two or three posts regarding this issue.

I just downloaded the newest Nvidia driver went to do a mythic+ HOA and was almost unplayable the ground walls everything was glitching out. Went and DUU and installed the drivers from like November and all is good. Nvidia needs to get something updated ASAP.

Thread in Reddit’s r/nvidia subreddit, apparently featuring actual Nvidia CS folks.

Thank You.

I’m here to say that I rolled back my Nvidia driver as well and seems to have fixed it. Was stable in Bastion for the 20 minutes I tested it.

GEFORCE GAME READY DRIVER - WHQL

Driver Version: 457.51 - Release Date: Wed Dec 02, 2020

Of note: If you play Cyberpunk 2077, I believe it’ll no longer be optimized as per other threads/comments I’ve read. But for WoW purposes, this seems to fix it.
