Flameshapper Consume Flames

The Consume Flames talent (in midnight) needs to consume less dot duration from Firebreath. That is all.

Simple enough.

It’s already taking 6 seconds off the cd every time you use engulf…

It also does damage based on the amount consumed, so you’re just asking for a damage nerf?

Engulf doesn’t exist anymore in midnight. It’s being replaced. Have you not read the midnight talent calculator. This is about the upcoming talent changes. Look them up.

That said, there does seem to be a fair amount compensating for he consumption via talents, I wonder if there’s an ICD on how frequently this can happen in single target. I feel like in AOE fire breath comes back so quickly it probably won’t be a concern?

Yeah it needs a bit of an adjustment, even with the longest DoT it’s eating through it way to fast. When you have talents that proc things off fire breath ticks this current incarnation basically makes those talents completely useless because the DoT is basically instantly eaten up.

if they adjusted Pyre to consume 6 seconds at 200% it would probably be better, disintegrate is generally only doing 6 seconds worth as well, bring them in closer alignment and up the damage slightly.

Two GCDs eats almost an entire fire breath on Beta. You will be spending a lot of time with no fire breath on your targets. Our fire breath will be doing roughly 150% of its damage in a fraction of the time because of it but the trade off that talent synergy gets wonky, catalyze loses value, scorching embers would require only using FB when you can double-stack it because a single FB could only buff three pyres max and using the third would delete the FB which would mean no buffing FB with FB.

So yeah, flameshaper got weird in that it just sets up to explode the breath rather than setting up for nuclear engulfs.

No apologies needed, it was just a miscommunication. I do hope they tweak things before launch though.

In it’s current form, consume flame is antithetical to half the flameshapper hero talents, a few of the fire based devastation talents, aswell as the empower mechanism.

Power balance aside, it doesn’t feel good for so many talents to be rendered moot. It defeats the whole purpose of talent points.

So far, every flameshapper I’ve communicated with feels the same about the change. Aside, from that single complaint, the rest of the changes are top notch. No complaint there. Let’s hope the game devs respond to player feedback.
