Before anyone says Preservation is just overtuned, I know. I reported it on the beta endlessly and it was ignored. This isn’t about that. This assumes similar numbers tuning.
Disc has completely lost its identity with Flameshaper being in the game. Everything Flameshaper offers is just Disc but better.
- You can ramp for gigantic burst healing on 1.5 minute CDs.
- This ramp is only a handful of spells and can be executed in seconds, not a dozen spells like Disc.
- You can ramp for it while moving and its executed in a single button with no need to stand and cast
- You can delay and stagger your ramped healing over the entire duration of your Dream Breath instead of needing to do it all at once. But you can do it all at once if you want
- In a world where we design fights to not one shot players, Barrier becomes useless. Rewind is just better.
- They also have Emerald Communion Ramps so they can hit faster AoE intervals than disc between Stasis Engulf ramp, Emerald, and Rewind.
- They have a better dispel profile
- They don’t need to be babied in raids and scootered around just to do what other classes can by default
- Way better self defensives
- Two amazing external defensives
- Dracthyr bring kicks, CC, interrupts, amazing movement abilities, rescues, bonus healing to healers, great damage. A raid buff, bloodlust.
- The list goes on and I don’t want to add more bullets because I feel like Im running out of space
There is no place in the world for Disc anymore in PvE. I’d love to ask what the Devs thought about this and what they think a Discipline Priest should be now days, but I already know the answer… They didn’t think about it and probably don’t even know what a Priest is.

Yeah Izen did a video on this showing a prevoker ramp v disc ramp. Said it was like a disc priest on steroids i think he may have said, or everything disc wants to be

I am not suprised.
Priest has a long list of things it had once, that were nerfed into obscurity and given to other classes but better.
MD - Revival from Monk
Leap of Faith and Heavens Vault(? The reverse LoF) - Rescue from Evoker
Shields - Mage has Mass shield and PW:S is kinda useless atm
Dispersion - Iceblock mages now get 80% while being able to do anything they want.
Vampiric embrace - natures sigil - shamen thing etc.
The list goes on and on.
It makes perfect sense to now lose your niche completely because someone else does it better while having better mobility/survivability/utility.
Its actually perfectly in line with priest selflessly giving.

Honestly good. No I’m not joking. For a long time I have felt Blizz had intentionally kneecapped disc because they where a guaranteed raid spot and they could always justify their nonsense because you would always see the spec.
Now that there is another class that can do what disc does but better and easier I hope we see disc representation completely plumit and watch the spec go back to TBC levels of pve representation. Maybe then blizzard will finally have to accept that they spec design is garbage and actually fix this crap.

“Hey guys! Please play our new fun Dragon class! Come on guys! It’s so amazing!!!”
This is how I feel right now with how strong Evoker is lol.
OK I mostly agree with the idea that Disc is being pushed out of raid because of Flameshaper (less so in dungeons so far right now because of Aug once again).
But I’m pretty sure the only thing that actually causes this BESIDES engulf being ridiculously overtuned is this point:
Because quite literally all of these things have existed in each tier and Pres was really not this much of a concern until Engulf existed and completely broke the class when it comes to HPS to a point where they’re like 30% ahead of everyone else.
I know we’re saying to ignore Engulf being stupidly overtuned here here, but… I mean it’s hard to ignore. Especially when it’s part of those 1.5 minute ramps because they’re storing it in stasis.
If Blizz just 2xed all of Disc’s healing in raid and dungeon, it would also make a lot of other healers irrelevant in RWF world.
Legit I actually started playing Prez in BGs with a friend who came back to the game and after playing a priest for so long I couldn’t help but die laughing, no literally I had tines I died in game because I couldn’t stop laughing, at how absurd the difference is.
Melee can’t touch me even though I am perpetually flying in their face.
People used an escapes to get away from his bladestorm I literally just pick up the blender of death and put it on top of them.
All the preventative stuff I did as disc I now do 10 times easier and more efficiently with much longer windows for damage.
I can eat burst windows for breakfast between my HoTs and Time Dilation
I can interrupt any CC coming my way to stay active.
I can break out of roots while relocating and AoE stunning people
I have a massive AoE line root
Massive AoE raid CD heal
Bloodlust
Multiple AoE micro CCs for disruption
My mass dispel now does good AoE damage
Gotta say it felt freaking good to see just how much I have been “out skilled” by so many people on my priest and see just how much all of that went out the window the second I actually have comparable tools to fight back. I know I’m not even close to min/maxing but I didn’t need to. On disc I had to min/max just to be competitive. All this isn’t even to compare discs 20 GCD raid ramp heal compared to Pres 4 GCD raid ramp heal. People say Pres is high skilled but it literally feels like training wheels compared playing priest for so long
Before I felt priest design was a damn joke, now I see its just a freaking insult and you can’t convince me there isnt some form of malace behind it on behalf of blizzard.

I honestly have no idea how Prevokers shipped like they did without any nerfs. Holy Paladins and Mistweavers were way more overtuned then Prevokers in the beta and got considerable nerfs pre and post expansion launch. That left Prevokers still ahead of everyone else by 15%+ in all the logs I looked at.
Prevokers are getting a 5-10% nerf to their overall hps next week and they’ll probably need another round of that to be brought down to everyone else’s level.
The issues Disc is facing now mainly has to do with the fact that Priests received no major updates during the beta.

Not spec. Class. All three specs need sweeping changes. Blizzard’s approach of changing one important element of individual specs once per expansion with no regard for how that affects the spec and completely ignoring the underlying class has proven to be an abject failure. Priest is only used in raid now because of fort and is only used elsewhere for unhealthy reasons.

In the interest of actual discussion;
Isn’t Chronowarden noticeably ahead of Flameshaper in pretty much all content? Rendering this point a little bit moot?
No. Chronowarden is very good, and maybe in theory it’s supposed to have more output, but flameshaper has extremely powerful aoe healing buttons that line up with every major damage event in the raid.
Chronowarden feels like it is strong in small group content, M+, pvp, etc but Flameshaper actually does what people thought Archon would do, scale hard with raid size.
Flameshaper is definitely stronger. However I already said numbers don’t matter. It’s the concept. Flameshaper is filling the same niche Disc has, providing way more utility and easier execution of raid wide burst healing. They really added a cooldown to Radiance and made us do a complicated dozen button ramp then for Evoker just said “Yeah just press Engulf.” We can’t even execute our ramp on most of the raid fights.
It doing double our healing output is just insult to injury, but not relevant.
