They really do need to have it flagged for custom groups. Queued content is easy enough that it really shouldn’t matter but yes it needs to flag players using it in the LFG tool.

Exactly.
You can remain “anonymous” for LFR, bgs, etc. but when your name populates in the LFG tool then it should come with some sort of icon
I think soft served chocolate ice cream is an appropriate icon

I believe the type of player that needs a one-button rotation will actually see a dps increase because they will now be using previously ignored abilities, which would outweigh the impact of longer GCD.
Players that know their rotation and execute it with competence will not want to use it to gimp themselves.
Overall, I anticipate a net gain of positives from such a feature with regard to group making.

Oh I’m sure, but they will never be on par to players who don’t use the that feature.
Which is why we need to sort them out. For LFG
Now if there wasn’t a GCD penalty then there’s no issue and no sortment is needed
I’m sure GD can come up with several reasons to hate the idea. Not necessarily good reasons, mind you.

maybe they will have it so you cant queue into keys if you have it on
The type of player that needs it has no business doing anything but world content so it won’t be elevating them to being valuable to a heroic raid or M+ pug.

If they don’t I’m sure the community will figure out a way to identify them with logs and make an addon for it.

How do you weed those players out currently from Heroic raid groups and M+?
Why would they be kicked out of they’re not invited…
One button rotation doesn’t exist yet…

if they cant queue you cant complain but you also wont be able to have the power of doing so which you desperately want
For the better part they weed themselves out by never going beyond queued content. The concern is that this will give them the illusion that they can or should.
It is not the same thing…you can q with it and someone who is feeling charitable might invite you and keep you
Players get flagged for using the one button, dont get invited to groups.
Button players get an addon/weakaura that can get around the flag so they can get into groups
In doing so, they can become accustomed to addons and the like, possibly pick up more
Now they have a base to explore these tools more, and possibly improve their play and experience more
