Flag of Ownership and other TGC items

I was sitting in Ironforge and I tabbed in and saw a Flag of Ownership in someone’s dead body. It wasn’t in the chat log, so I didn’t get to see who used it to ask:
HOW
Is there a new secret way to redeem TCG items, or is it from a new promotion that I can’t find anywhere?

I’m not sure, but if you have the card (with a code) are you able to redeem it from Landro Longshot in Booty Bay?

Nope, he will only give you back items from the TBC/WotLK epic bundles if you deleted them. He doesn’t give you the option to enter a code.

Seem to recall items like this being awarded during the TBC Classic 3v3 Arena Tournament. There was a title given out as well, Vanquisher, that had some sort of qualifying aspect attached. Perhaps even a pet as well.

On this note: Blizzard should always host a Tournament Realm, fresh for each season. Instant max level characters, PvP gear/PvE gear/gem/enchant vendors.

Also, in OG TBC and OG WotLK, players could pay $25.00 bucks for access to the Tournament Realm. With the top teams going into a bracket to score points, then to go on to the Blizzcon Tournament.

Feel free to correct me. Don’t recall everything perfectly.

Oh, I didn’t realize they even did that. I have Vanquisher from back in OG WotLK on retail, and I have still have my old Flag of Ownership card so I was hoping I could just plug it in somewhere. Oh well, thanks for letting me know!

The TBC Classic 3v3 Arena Tournament worked differently than the OG TBC Tournament Realm.

To gain access and be able to compete in the TBC Classic Arena Tournament, the player had to make a game battles account and link their battle.net account to it. Then create a team on the game battles website and invite your teammates game battle accounts to it.

Once the team on the game battles website was created and your account linked, your account would then be flagged to have access to the TBC Classic Arena Tournament Realm.

Advertising for when this was occurring was quite low. Not even on the battle.net launcher application. A player very much had to be already looking for this type of this, otherwise easily missed.

In OG TBC, the option to sign up was simply on the server list and you’d pay to gain access. Allowing the player to play with whoever was on the Tournament Realm.

The system in OG TBC was much better for raising awareness and giving access to the majority of the player base.

Awards such as the Flag of Ownership weren’t quite advertised in the TBC Classic version of the Tournament Realm. Felt like something thrown in as a perk for the top players that competed after the fact.

This is interesting and it sounds like you’ve figured it out, this is even mentioned here:
GameBattles: The World Leader in Online Video Game Competition (majorleaguegaming.com)

“All teams that complete at least 2 matches and earn at least 1 match win will be eligible to earn the “Flag of Ownership” item for their live character in WoW Wrath of the Lich Classic.”

Really sad they didn’t properly advertise it.
