So I’m currently waiting out a ban on one of my toons for having a name that was the same as a famous person. No cursing, 4-letter words, “hate speech” or whatever. Just a famous persons name.
I get it. It’s their game, They make the rules. It’s the 2nd time I was banned for this name (first time, The GM apologized and said the name wasn’t a violation of TOS and lifted my ban). This time around, Blizz apologized and said that lifting the ban was a GM mistake and they apologized again and banned me for 8 days lol. Imagine apologizing and then banning you for 8 days from a paid service lol. Whatever.

My issue is that I have other toons with names that violate this ridiculous policy and at least as far as I can tell, there is no way to talk to a human being or buy a name change on classic wow so…
Am I stuck with other Lv. 60 toons named after a celeb that I can’t use because it’ll get me banned for 8 or 16 or ?? days?
Blizz 100% stopped responding to tickets regarding my ban. I have at least 3 automated responses saying “this issue is closed, we won’t respond”, So that’s not an option.
Again, If you’re comment is “It’s your fault for not reading TOS”, Please just don’t bother…
In those cases, just report yourself. They won’t hold it against you if it’s YOU noticing your mistake. If they have to point it out to you, punishments can happen.
The last time I had an “inappropriate name” strike against me was 2017, and from what I remember I just got a free name change out of it … no further account action was taken.
In 2018 I decided I wanted a name change for one of my alts - but didn’t feel like paying the $10. I simply asked some of my buddies/friends to mass-report my name and got another free name change via the automated system.
My account is ancient. Like 2006 ancient. I’ve had some legitimately questionable names in the past and understand why those were banned. I didn’t realize until literally 2 days ago that “public figures” as names are a violation of the TOS.
It’s a cumulative “thing” with names. And i’m on the poopy end of that spectrum. So yeah… I’m up to 8-day bans at this point. Trying to avoid 16? day bans but Blizz REALLY doesn’t make it easy to rectify mistakes when you can’t talk to an actual human being or even pay for a damn name change.

Honestly you knew you were wrong and did it anyway, been actioned for it multiple times in the past and will not learn from your behaviour.

What do you mean? I have nothing to hide. I was banned. I don’t want to be banned again. Is there any way to get blizz to issue a name change for other toons with “bad” names without getting another (probably longer) ban?
Maybe, maybe not. Open up a player report, report yourself, and explain the situation.
If the GM is nice, maybe they just give you a name change. If they’re tired of having to do extra work because you think you’re funny, maybe you get another game vacation.
Either way, might as well take your licks. If you try to just play the alts and ignore it the punishment is bound to be heavier.
