Fixing Holy Paladin in PvP

Its universally agreed upon that holy paladin is by far the worst healer in PvP. Its to the point that some places arent even ranking them because theyre so bad.

Holy paladin needs immediate help. Some very basic buffs that could assist.

Aura Buff: All damage and healing increased by 15%.

New Passive: Armor of the Just. Armor increased by 125%.

Holy Shock damage and healing increased by 25%.

Infusion of Light reduces the cast time of Holy Light by 1 second.

Mastery now treats Beacon targets as being within 5 yards of the Paladin.

OR

Mastery changed to: “Direct heals leave an absorb shield behind for X% of the direct heal amount.”

If Divine Shield is removed or dispelled, heals caster for 30% max health.

I dont think this solves all of holy paladins issues, but at least will allow them to start to compete.

it was fine in Shadowlands. Bring back Vanquisher’s hammer and make it HURT.

Infusion of light reducing holy light cast, judgment generating holy power during wings, holy shock mana cost halved and veneration resetting hammer of wrath off of holy shock crits would probably make hpal feel really fluid

I think the AC change is going to do a lot of good for hpal, but mechanically it still feels horrible to play compared to every other iteration of hpal we’ve had except classic and tbc

And yeah really upset we got divine toll and summer instead of vanq hammer. Empyrian is insultingly bad compared to vanq

Just gonna copy what I posted on the PTR forum.

Our Mastery: For PvPrs and ranged Pallys in general, we might as well not even have a mastery as it provides zero benefit. What’s worse is that we can’t even avoid the stat, It’s on 2 pieces of our tier set and the only 1H glad weapon for HPals? Mastery/Vers. This would be a great place to bring Shock barrier back IMO

Talents:

Divine Favor: This former PvP talent is a shell of its former self. You’ve taken away its interrupt protection, reduced its healing bonus and its cast time reduction and increased its CD… undo all of those things please.

Divine Toll: Without ringing clarity this talent just doesn’t feel great anymore, it’s basically just a way to generate HP and get a Dawn proc.

Infusion of Light: WTB Holy Light fast-cast, please.

Repentance/Blinding Light: We need to choose something here to get to improved cleanse, and our choice is between an AoE stun that will remove all of my teammates DoTs (basically a mini revival for the other team) or a long cast incap that is begging to be kicked so we’ll get locked out of Holy. Fine for certain arena comps but feels like throwing away a talent point for RBGs. Disc priests lost their knockback, can we have it?

Touch of Light: This talent just feels like a trap, it barely ever procs from heals and when it does it’s for a negligible amount. Is this intended? Who is this talent for?

Power of the Silver Hand: Much like Touch of Light, this rarely procs. In fact, personally, I’ve never actually seen a proc. I’ve spammed FoL till I’ve gone OOM multiple times and it didn’t proc once. Is this a bug? Maybe, but we mentioned it on the Beta and it’s exactly the same.

Seasoned Warhorse: A 1 second increase? Really? When I first saw this on the beta I thought it was a typo for a 100% increase (which would be lovely btw)

According to rated BGs leaderboard, the amont of hpals is the smallest.

But the healing amount of hpals is not really lower than other healers.

Anyway, what do you think about the next patch 10.0.5?

Im not sold on Avenging Wrath being a 5 HP 45 second cooldown lasting only 12 seconds. It doesnt solve the mobility issues, doesnt solve the squishy as hell status, and Im not convinced its any more healing considering youll have to time it with Divine Toll to try and gain the 5 HP back.

Right now Hpal relies too much on lucky procs to stay competitive. Wings is the only time paladin feels ok, and even then, other healers are still much better.

Pretty stoked to see some HPal love on the PTR. It certainly doesn’t fix… anything on my list. But we’ll take what we can get.

Paladin

  • Holy
    • Barrier of Faith now accumulates 50% of effective Flash of Light and Holy Light healing (was 40%).

I’d really like to see BoF accumulate all healing.

  • Flash of Light healing increased by 15% in PvP combat.

:+1:

  • Aura of Reckoning max aura stacks raised to 100 (was 50). The Reckoning effect now activates at 100 stacks.
  • Reckoning (PvP talent) now increases the damage of your next Judgment by 25% (was 100%). The tooltip for Aura of Reckoning will be updated to reflect this in a future patch.

Big Ouff for the Melee Wings play style.

  • Holy Light now heals for 75% more in PvP combat (was 40%).

The buff itself is very nice, but Holy Light is still way too long of a cast. Divine Favour/Inufsion of light still need to be buffed/reworked

  • Holy Shock healing increased by 15% in PvP combat.

:+1:

Again, these buffs don’t fix many of the core issues with the spec. But it’s nice to not completely ignored [inhales copium] maybe we can hope for a rework in 10.0.7
