The existing model is fine if you like ectomorphic physiques, but for the conventional “power fantasy” crowd who have waited ~18 years for Drakonids - we need a mighty, mesomorphic option. I suggest using the male Revendreth Gargoyle model as the baseline rig. Models don’t need to be different “genders” because Dragons are reptilian, but separate customization options like Orc backs.
2. Dracthyr need at least a few more classes to play.
It’s needlessly limiting to restrict a core expansion feature to one class. I imagine Blizz is trying to cut down on development time for animations and armor, but Hunter and Shaman also use Mail like Evoker. Hell, Druids would have their own bear/cat form for melee so they wouldn’t even need to develop custom melee animations for Dracthyr.
3. There needs to be an optional glyph that lets you primarily fight in humanoid form.
Yeah, some people aren’t going to like this new race or may like their humanoid forms more than Dracthyr form. Getting a glyph that makes dragon form more situational (like Metamorphosis’ Eye Beam talent) would allow people to play Dracthyr/Evokers while enjoying their humanoid form. Instead of Dragon Breath attacks, players could just cast with normal animations like the Orc Kamehameha. Dracthyr form could be reserved for things like Evoker flight attacks. This idea essentially expands the new class to every race Dracthyr can have a humanoid version of.
I believe these three proposals would resolve a lot of the disappointment some players are vocalizing on the forums right now. Imagine if Pandaren could have only been Monks and Monks could have only been Pandaren. Obviously, there is always the “screw you, got mine” crowd that defends restrictions, but for a company trying to sell a product - maybe “listen” a little more, and build a product that more players want to buy.
Yeah and they look far better than the Dracthyr to a lot of people. And let’s be real, Dracthyr aren’t even a real race. They are a glorified Moonkin form. They can’t even wear armor except for tabards, belts, and shoulders. They don’t have access to more than 1 class.
Can’t blame you for having your own preferences, but as paying customers, Blizzard should be concerned about making this expansion marketable to you AND me AND everyone else who they want to buy the game. You aren’t losing anything by these options being introduced.
Telling people “take it or leave it” results in some people actually leaving it.
I was thinking for visage form, they could use animations like spawning magical wings for the animations, magical tail for tail sweeps. And temprarily transform to draconic form for flying abilities.
I think they should develop this since they may look awkward with disguise toys, like some monks using fists of fury in some disguises, has no animation.
I think it would be nice if we can choose a class for visage form snd it be the regular classes. And the draconic form evoker only is understandable, but I feel visage form could be made using draconic ephemeral magic manifestations. And honestly wish it opened to all races in visage form. Or at least that happen eventually, I thought being a dragon would be cool if you could say choose the nightborne model.
Being able to pick a separate class for visage form would help save character slots. Like if I can choose warrior for visage form, and evoker is default for dragon form that would be cool.
Yeah. The restrictions to the race and class pretty much makes a core expansion feature worthless to me.
I am a melee DPS player that occasionally tanks…this core feature was obviously not made for me. Adding additional class options would fix this problem.
No it doesn’t. I don’t think Warriors are any worse because every race can be one.
The people who sell this game for money.
Additionally, we aren’t talking about pleasing “everyone” - trust me. I want Drakonid Warriors and that’s not happening. We are just talking about a few, low cost design decisions that could help Dragonflight be a better received expansion. Because right now, you can read the forums, and people like me have no reason to preorder.
Battlefield 2042 tried to please everyone. I loved that franchise. It’s dead to me.
No product can please everyone.
Making dracthyr with its exclusive class evoker can really focus on making a humanoid dragon with dragon powers feel good. They can make it a really unique package.
you forgot something tho, fps and mmo rpg are two completely different types of games with different audience, expectation and content. Its not remotely similar other than being in the gaming industry
Making the new expansion race and class unappealing to a sizable chunk of your player base can also kill the hype for your expansion before it ever releases.
I thought the way it was worded was weird to begin with. They called it a new race, but evoker can only be dracthyr and dracthyr is only evoker. I basically just consider it a class, not a race. Since there are no other options.
