If you’re unable to log into Kalimdor, find someone currently online in Orgrimmar, and have them invite you. This will swap layers on your alt. Then log out of your alt, and log into your main in Kalimdor.
I’m not sure why this works, but it did for my and my guildies after 3 hours. If you’re on Herod, whisper Meatysteve and I’ll help get your main online.

This just worked for me. Whisper Mokon on Herod horde and I can get you on my layer.

THIS WORKS. Confirmed. Create an undead character. Log in on the undead character. Ask for an invite. Log out on your undead. Then back in on your main that’s in Kalimdor.
