I’m really getting tired of the following scenario which seems to be happening more often:
Wait 40+ minutes in queue for a certain wing of a raid that I have not done yet.
Get into a group that has already downed the first two bosses. Group kills last boss and I leave.
Wait another 40+ minutes in queue for the same wing of the raid.
Get into a group that has downed the first boss. Group kills second boss and I leave since I already killed the last boss.
Wait another 40+ minutes in queue for the same wing of the raid.
Get into a group that has downed the first two bosses. Group wipes on last boss. I leave and get a deserter debuff for 30 minutes.
Include into this mix getting into groups that have only one tank which requires waiting another 15+ minutes for one to queue or getting into a group that is hosted on an Oceanic Server while I play on North American servers and the experience gets even worse.
The fix that’s always been there in the past and seems to somehow not work anymore: if you’re put into a group that’s downed bosses you haven’t, your next queue is guaranteed to be a fresh run.
I’m wondering if it was supposed to be a stealth change, because not enough people were running stuff… but it may have backfired. But I’m just spitballing here.
The fix is simple, let people see what boss the group is on before entry like before, and stop allowing people to leave without a penalty after finishing a boss.
Or, give people who re-run bosses some sort of pity prize. Gold, rep, IDGAF but if they’re going to have the system set up like this it’s only punishing people who get unlucky.
An interesting thing I’ve found is that I have a much higher chance of getting into fresh queues with more geared characters, and it seems to be practically guaranteed once I hit 270+.
IMO, replace people who leave LFR with the comp stomp bots of the right role. Every run is a fresh run, every run can be completed with no waiting for the group to fill mid-run.
The reason why ques are so long is probably the lack of healers and tanks.
My suggestions are:
If they there was more incentive for those roles you would see reduced que times. The incentive should be for all tanks and healers not just ones looking to gear up in LFR
Make LFR much shorter. Send us right to the boss. I’ll tank a boss a quick in and out when I have 10-15 mins but the trash puts it over time.
Remove tank swaps from LFR so it can be one tank’d.
I think this could be a big one. At least for me, I often queue DPS on my shaman and other alts as I just want to turn my brain off if I’m Doing LFR for whatever reason. If there is a decent goodie bag at the end or some other motivation I would probably queue different roles.
Just to highlight Legion, there wasn’t necessarily any special reward for doing LFR but it could be another source to farm your legendary items from. We will see how Dragonlands goes but I think there may already be potential with the profession system coming and gathering unique materials.
Can’t wait to struggle to get the Slimesaber mount because queues will take too long and doing an entire LFR raid in a single week is going to be exhausting. That is if they don’t make this mount another stupid fomo bs tactic and gate it behind normal+.
If you’re doing all that just delete the mode and people can pick up their gear after watching a cutscene.
Eh, hard to expect people to spend a bunch of time repeat killing bosses for no reward. Those kills should at least give chunks of gold/rep and count towards vault kills.
Heck, Blizz could make X amount of repeat kills give a token that can be used to upgrade an LFR piece to normal ilevel.
Bonus if they added a real incentive like the above for repeats and gave a guaranteed fresh wing to your first queue of the week.
