FIX War Mode!

FIX WAR MODE!

Was tired of the super negative nature of some of the other threads here, so lets offer up some ideas that could make War Mode a better experience. That Blizzard could do, not just us as players gathering others and encouraging them to turn it on…

My Ideas, and suggestions ive heard over the years:

  • Ways to SEE and CONTROL which phase we are on. So we can get to where fights are, and tell others how to get to us without grouping…

  • Less phasing while in War Mode.

  • BOUNTIES should be SERVER WIDE, and follow you everywhere. Not just in current content.

  • More places to turn War Mode on, there is no reason for this to be limited. If anything turning it OFF should be the one that is harder to do, but isn’t…

  • Fighting in WAR MODE should unlock rewards in the Zone for your Faction. Like some of the abilities in Ashran.
    – Big Faction specific elites that can be earned and summoned. (Like Fangraal/Kronus)
    – Patrol groups (like the Wolf Riders)
    – Portals that make getting around the zone easier
    – The Jet Packs and things we used to be able to get in Mechagon…
  • etc

  • War Crates should have a delay once they reach their destination and FALL to the ground before becoming capturable.

  • War Mode specific events/elites that can be fought and earn things. Not even necessarily monetary or gear related, but what I mentioned above about different War Mode specific zone items to use while there.

  • Capturable points like the Towers from Hellfire Peninsula.

There are SO many ways War Mode could be improved, and with things that ALREADY EXIST.

Would love to see your guys suggestion below as well.

The crates dropping as soon as they reach where they are going is such a bad game design. If you memorize where crates are pathing to, you will get just about every crate if you know where to wait for it.

This needs to be stressed over and over again. EPL, all of BC, Wintergrasp, Tol Barad, Venture Bay, all of these open world contestable PvP areas need to be brought back. Little PvP zones across the map with a quest once in a while don’t cut it. There needs to be persistent places to fight over and reason to fight over them. Even if its as miniscule as a 2% rep or stam buff zone wide

Just seeing it was Blue was enough to make you want to flip it in Hellfire haha

I kind of wish there was some buff that the underdog side got as well if there were overwhelming numbers like how you get enlistment bonuses for bgs. Something like a 5% stam or dmg buff if there is 25% more warmode flagged opposite faction in a zone.

I think there is an underdog buff already.

I know alliance used to get a 30% buff during BFA when they were so outnumbered.

I think horde has a small one now, but horde has warmode on they just aren’t fighting.

Horde at the beginning of the expansion had a 15% increased War Mode enlistment bonus (because outnumbered)

This goes up by 5% for how outnumbered they are. It’s fluctuated since then and I think we still have the standard 10%

Yeah, there’s horde in war mode they just aren’t fighting. Makes sense from what I’ve seen anyway.

I feel like part of the problem might be that because Horde has the larger player base overall, and War Mode with Chromie Time is relatively safe from gankers, many Horde leveling players are counted toward the War Mode enlistment bonus.

It doesnt seem like Blizzard calculates the War Mode bonus based on how many max level players have War Mode enabled, but instead includes all players on each faction with War Mode enabled, regardless of level. Ideally they should restrict this to calculate the War Mode bonus on current content levels (TWW: levels 70-80) to provide a more accurate bonus based on active endgame WPvP participation.

I know a lot of people that have warmode on, but just dont go for crates or things too. So just because they are in War Mode, doesnt mean they are there to fight either. Which is why something like a buff based on that is kind of… wonky.

The sharding certainly doesn’t do us any favors either. If you have a group you can’t seem to find anything other than onesies and twosies at the crate… if you’re the onesies and twosies, you’re fighting against 15-20 of the opposite faction. Surely someone who understands how math works could create a better balance.

I don’t even bother with crates anymore unless it’s Tuesday and I need conquest/sparks. No point if Horde doesn’t show up.

Once they learn you are in a zone, they stop trying.

Theres a few groups, on our server group at least, that go to each zone trying to get crates. I learned this by hopping between zones to get crates myself with a group, and we kept seeing the same people at every one.

Once they learn you are in an area and defending, they abandon that one and go to the others.

I think everyone is going this way, things have slowed down a lot on the crates. We need the new content to boost WPVP a bit.

It’s also partly because of how the dropping works now. A lot of times you’re just too far away to get there in time, unlike in DF. So why go out of your way?

Yeah I think that was one of my asks in OP. If not I need to fix that.

Totally agree with all of OPs list! Would also like to add Honor to the World Quest rewards!
There’s actually so much potential with War Mode but it feels like it was forgotten about right after its release. It should be treated like a perpetual BG where you can go for some pvp action, instead of sitting capitals qued for BGs.

Also give us something to spend our Bloody Tokens on…

Agreed here.

This is rather pointless. Typically when people get bounties, they either hearth or relog to reset it.

Bounty status following them to the city would be counter-productive, unless it made them attackable in-sanctuary.

The fundamental problem with the bounty system is that there is zero incentive to actually be one. None. Until that changes, people are going to wipe it so they don’t have to deal with the inconvenience / zergs.

Sure.

Neat ideas, but until the problem of faction imbalance is addressed (as-is, PvE players are mostly Horde and PvPers mostly Alliance), these would probably just tip the scale further toward the dominant faction.

This is seemingly a bug that just hasn’t been fixed because Blizzard sadly devotes 0 resources to WPvP.

Eh, I wasnt really talking about Sanctuaries. Maybe that should be where you can lose them.

Meant more so that the Bounty System is in place across the game, every zone.

I agree there needs to be more incentive to keep them. Rewards for surviving certain lengths of time with one, or for killing X amount of players while having one.

Make crossrealm/shards opt in fixes the entire problem we pay to play on servers not shards.

There is one. Fun
