Resto has some issues dpsing imo. I think blizz should either reduce the mana cost of sunfire and moonfire to 100 mana each or remove the GCD from shifting so we can immediately step into dpsing as cat or moonkin. It really feels like we are wearing an anchor compared to all the other healer classes.
I don’t really notice the mana cost, but that GCD though
It feels like by the time I can get into an eclipse, I’ve got to go refresh HoTs. So other than HotW/Convoke, DPS doesn’t feel very good. Feral Affinity feels a little better (but weaker); however, I run with an all melee group so someone has to be mechanic bait ![]()
I’m not sure how it is for other healers because I only play resto druid, but it feels like I can super tryhard and maaaaaaaaybe achieve 3k DPS overall for any given run. Which is extremely low compared to even the tank.
I could probably run another legendary and ultra tryhard, but it feels like the payoff here is extremely low. I actually think mixing DPS into the healing gameplay is a really good thing for overall gameplay. It beats standing around waiting for people to take damage, but it’s been an awkward experience throughout Shadowlands ![]()
I’m playing necro in M+ with circle/feral affinity and max haste. It really starts to add up when you’re doing 3-4 sunfires during trash (especially in 10+ when haste bounty pushing you into 70+% haste). It’s so demoralizing when shaman chain lightning is 100 mana. I mean come on they can spam that for eternity.
I KSM’d 2 healers last season (druid and shaman) and let me tell you shaman feels so much better being able to dps and react without that damn GCD.
It’s very sad… the druid class (or well if we go to Rdruid) that is a master of hots and dots… has a high cost of an ability… and I’ve noticed that in SL they have done a horrible job in fixing or making sense of the healers mana cost issue… example:
Moonfire costs 6% of the druid’s base mana.
Flame Shock costs 1.5% of the shaman’s base mana.
Shadow Word: Pain that costs 0.3% of the priest’s base mana.
It just doesn’t make sense… and also one of our dots according to wowhead:
Rejuvenation costs 11% of the druid’s base mana and heals (116% of Spell power) over 12 sec/Healing (29% of Spell power) every 3 sec.
Renew costs 1.8%/2% and heals (160% of Spell power) over 15 sec/Healing (32% of Spell power) health every 3 sec.
I don’t understand… how the hell does our power lose against a class that has nothing to do with “healing with hots” and on top of that their mastery works much better than ours.
It’s also true, I’ve played Hpriest and Rshammy and it feels easier to do dps (because they don’t have GCD or dependency on a form/transformation to use their offensive spells). Our GCD of 1.5/2sec per transformation is too annoying (the worst thing is that people come to argue saying that shamans also have to cancel spells… but friends… all classes get into CGD but we have to be in a animal form to attack). It’s really sad and it shows more when you’re a necrolord and on top of that with his regular dps almost bordering on the bad for so much effort.
