Fix premades queue dodging

Facing premades is one of the most frustrating experience as a pug. It is even more frustrating when the in-game mechanics allow premades to makes sure they only face pugs. I stopped playing WSG, the battleground I enjoy the most after losing 6 one-sided games in a row.

While I don’t have a perfect solution, a few changes that could make the WSG experience viable again :

  • Option for solo players to only face solo players, even if it means a longer queue. I’d rather wait 30 minutes to get into a balanced WSG than 12 minutes to face a premade that will stomp me.
  • Add random delay before actually queuing to prevent people from syncing their solo queues
  • Require every player in a party to press “enter battle” before the group actually gets in the game

I don’t know many people that would keep queuing for pvp after losing virtually every game they play. As these players stop to play pvp, the situation gets worse and worse for the other pugs. I understand some alliance think that the changes that were made to AV ruined AV for alliance. I personally think that the only reason this happens is all the hardcore pvpers of alliance headed to WSG after not being able to efficiently premade AV anymore. I’m sorry but the AV map imbalance is not the reason why alliance gets wiped in the middle of the map.

The situation must be addressed for all battlegrounds at the same time, else we are just shifting the problem else where. This is not a horde or a alliance issue, it is a pug issue. You can keep thinking that all the changes make the things worse but without them we soon won’t have any pug queueing for pvp anymore.

I am not doing pvp to rank up, but to have fun. The reason why I am not joining premades on my server is precisely this : having a coordinated team vs pugs is not fun. There is no pride in winning a one-sided game. I really believe the only reason why people are doing it right now is because it is the most efficient way to rank up. We need changes to prevent that.

If you really want this fixed you should be advocating for RBG’s with a separate reward structure. That way serious pvp’ers will be separated from pugs/casuals. Look at how well the AV “fixes” worked. The honor system is hot garbage, there’s a reason it was scrapped in TBC

This actually makes sense.

Of course all the issues could be fixed by a massive pvp change, however I think that some part of this community like that the gear is more of a grind than a skill assessment. I don’t really agree with this, but I can respect this desire to keep tthe pvp system the way it is, this is why I think that it’s a better idea to make small changes rather than completely changing everything and make a lot of people unhappy.

Queue AV if you want to pug. WSG is the premades playground

Just find horde friends. Horde is the self proclaimed pvp faction with a lot of horde chomping at the bit to get into BGs and wreck Alliance. Both sides can group up. Unlike retail, classic has forced people to interact more to reach a common goal.

You already had your time being able to rank up with solo queueing during the AV meta. Solo queueing your way up the ranks was never supposed to be successful, stop trying to change the design of the game to accommodate casual play.

Whats funny is i knew they would start asking for this change a week ago lol

It doesn’t make much sense for 2 simple reasons.

First. if you are in horde group and then all of the sudden one of them goes to drop a deuce a t the 59th minute of a 1 hour Q it could cause the entire team to miss the BG. Now as funny as that may be that would never fly.

Second, there is an alternative behavior for what the horde are seeing.

Some dude who solo Q’s to rank 10 and is still at it, but not for rank just for the fun of BG’s and is the first to hit accept. They zone in they see a horde premade and bounces. Horde just assumed this guys intent and that he is a scout for a premade but in all actuality it was a member of the let them win crowd and diped before it even started.

I don’t need want blizzard making a bunch of additional changes to address non issues.

As expected, the post is swarmed by people who benefit from the current situation. I’ll try to address as many points in this post :

“Find horde friends” : I don’t enjoy playing in a premade and I know this is also the case from many people. I understand some people like it and i’m not suggesting it should be abolished.

“Queue AV”: Well, I would queue AV is AV was even remotely fun and not a PVE environment where everyone cares more about their honor/hour than playing the actual game. WSG and AB are the superior battlegrounds and everyone knows it.

“WSG is the premade playground”: I have no problem about people doing premades, but premades vs pugs is not a fair fight and should not be a thing. Queue dodging by premades makes the issue even worse. To the person that said this is a non-issue… I did 7 WSG this week-end and 7 of them were premades . 1 win ( I was matched with a group of 9) and 6 losses. I did not have fun in any of this game. Believe it or not, some people are playing the game to have fun, not only to rank up. I’d even be okay with more honor being given in a premade vs premade game so that solo queuing does not become the most effective way to rank up.

“Imagine one of them is afk when the queue is popped and everyone misses the game” Have you ever played any competitive multiplayer game? This is how it works everywhere else… Also you could just remove this player from the queue and send the other 9 in a fast queue to be matched with another player or something.

“Non issues” : the idea that pug should not have access to battlegrounds is really elitist and totally stupid. Private servers have been around forever if you wanted to play with extremely hardcore players… The success of Classic WoW is driven by a community, made of casual AND hardcore players.

The whole idea of #NoChange is to keep the experience of classic wow similar to how Vanilla was. I played all of vanilla and I never ever lost 10 BGs in a row to premades. I am totally fine with people ranking up, I accepted the fact that i’ll never get close to any high ranks. I can’t accept the fact that I’m paying 15$ a month for a game where I don’t have access to PVP because of premades.
I don’t think i’ll ever understand what’s the joy behind stomping pugs as a premade. I think that having a premade vs premade environment and pug vs pug would be much more healthy.

No matter what you do you will make alot of people unhappy with the current honor system. The point of organized pvp is to make your premades and optimize your group the best you can. By forcing those players to only face other premades you’re essentially punishing them because of the way the honor system works. This sucks for pugs because they face premades alot.

Breaking/removing the ability to premade would help pugs out, but it would destroy the organized pvp community. Imagine if guilds weren’t allowed to have more than 5 people in a raid, and it was LFR system only. Everyone would just quit doing it.

I agree that premades and pugs don’t belong together, but with the OG honor system you can’t separate them. This is the reason arenas were added in TBC, so serious pvp’ers had a place to go and compete amongst themselves. In classic that should be RBG’s. I don’t think arenas would be a good fit in classic.
