The class is terrible to play right now. Both in PvE & PvP. How does Blizz not see this? The forums are flooded with people saying they’re cancelling their subs or rerolling to another class. The monk community is only getting smaller because Blizz is either too lazy or stupid to do anything about the inefficiencies with the MW class.
and Windwalker seems to flood LFG and Arena right now…
It’s probably the most fun melee spec.
lol you lose some you gain some, I guess.
I get your frustration. I honestly am baffled they allowed Shadowlands to ship with a class hurting as much as it did. It reminds me when Microsoft completely ignored all beta testers when they released Windows 8 and then were shocked at negative reaction.
Big difference? 100% of Windows 8 users experienced the bad. A very small percentage of wow players are monk.
I will keep playing wow and Monk until such a time I believe a competitor offers a superior product. I will not post it when I leave, but the reasons will already have been well documented on these forums.
This spec is in desperate need of help.
They need to really just lean completely into the fistweaving style of MW and commit to that being the primary playstyle, adding more talent/passive support. There are plenty of ‘caster’ healers, there’s only two ‘dps healers’ in both MW/Hpal.
Trying to support both fistweaving and casting just ends up with both sides feeling incomplete.
As much as I’d like this, it won’t happen. They’re focused on making accessibility start at the brain-dead level for pretty much every class. There are lots of people who prefer casting as mistweaver. I can’t for the life of me understand why, as it’s boring as sin.
We had a very healthy playstyle in our original kit. It was tuned a bit too strong but was brought in line over the course of WoD. Then we got a rework nobody asked for (not even the other healing classes) and we’ve been a mess ever since.
Shadowlands has highlighted that our base mana costs are too high (have been since rework just easier to see now), we excell at almost anything better than anyone for about 5 seconds and then struggle to keep up with the tanks.
I don’t get why the spec overall has to suffer because they can’t find a balance between two playstyles, one of which they invented with Monk then passed on to two other specs and made work perfectly fine. (Glimmer Pally and Disc Priest). It’s been several years, if it’s that hard just pull a druid, make a 4th spec named Cranemender or something and call it a day.
Completely disagree that it should be focused only on fistweaving.
Both sides co-existed just fine in MoP. Casting playstyle was a ton of fun in MoP, especially in PvP. I think it was a lot more interactive and interesting than oldschool fistweaving personally. Jab jab uplift isn’t exactly super compelling gameplay, but PvP MW’s at the very least took advantage of their entire very large kit in MoP.
MoP MW’s really had multiple approaches to a situation which I think maybe why they gutted it. Maybe they thought having so many options was too complex. It’s a shame since the original MW was one of the more unique specs until they ruined it in Legion.
You could make fist weaving the best dps in the game and you wouldn’t be able to use it in pvp right now. MW has no defensives big enough for current dmg, and basically no instant healing. Going into melee range in most games is gg.
