Fix Holy Pally's Mana Issues For Offensive Abilities - PLEASE!

Judgement costs mana? Crusader Strike costs mana?

At 489 equipped I was fighting an elite. I went oom using offensive attacks just before it died.

I didn’t really take damage. That wasn’t the issue. I went oom using offensive attacks. This is not acceptable. I’ve been asking for this mana issue for offensive abilities to get fixed for months and months now. It affects us in PVP too. Sometimes I could use a judgement but can’t afford the mana. This is a physical attack. Please explain how we’ve warped the lore to make this cost mana.

Come on blizzard. You guys are doing a great job in a lot of areas. You guys fixed other major issues with other classes. This is a pretty easy fix for hpals.

This is all a thing we can get behind. Holy’s DPS rotation should be mana neutral or beneficial somehow, not a resource drain.

I was gonna reply with the Placebo lyrics but I think any follow up verse would get me in trouble.

Yeah I’ve said it in other threads but it seems like the HPal mana economy is broken.

Most healers do damage in a mana neutral way.

Resto Druids can cat form at 0 mana. Their casted spells and dots cost quite a bit of mana but it is offset by cat form being free.
Resto Shaman damage abilities cost next to nothing. 500 Lightning Bolt & Chain Lightning, 1250 Lava Burst, 750 Flame Shock.
Disc Priests do healing with these spells too and yet they cost barely anything. Smite is 1000, Penance 4000, 2400 Mind Blast, Purge the Wicked 4500.
Holy Priest Smite 500, Holy Fire 2500, Holy Nova 4000
MW Monk Tiger palm free, Blackout kick free, Rising Sun Kick 6250, Spinning Crane Kick 2500.
Pres Evoker When living flame is used on an enemy, it returns 50% of the mana cost. The rest of their spells are free via essences or long cooldowns with insignificant mana costs (Fire Breath).

If you recall, all healers have 10000 / 5 seconds or 2000 / second passive mana regen. Anything under that is technically mana positive.

If you consider Smite costs 1000, it’s kind of crazy what it does. It’s:

  1. Mana positive (is less than passive regen)
  2. It does damage
  3. It heals all atonements.
  4. It extends your active fiend or reduces its cooldown, meaning it’s even more mana positive.

Now, consider Holy Paladins.

Consecration and SotR* are free, Crusader Strike is 1500, Judgment 6000, Holy Shock is 7000.

Shield of the Righteous might be free itself but if you consider the holy power and the cost in generating that SotR, its very much not free.

If you generated that HoPo via 1 x Holy Shock + 1 Crusader Strike (assuming you’re using Holy Infusion) + SotR → the 3 spell casts cost nearly 3k each (7000 + 1500 = 8500 mana).

If you used a Judgment, things get even worse. HS + HS + Judge = 7000 + 7000 + 6000 = 20000 mana!

In both cases, this isn’t mana neutral. To be mana neutral you’d have to generate all HoPO using Crusader Strike and nothing else. Just twiddle your thumbs in between Crusader Strikes, I guess.

It’s absurd.

IMO what they need to do is give Holy Shock the Living Flame treatment. 50% returned when used on an enemy.

Make Shield of the Righteous restore some mana with the understanding that it cost 2-3 expensive globals to generate the resource for what is a damage ability and should be mana neutral.

How about they remove the HP generation from any damage ability, and add more from healing abilities? They could then remove the mana spending on damage, because it would not be part of the rotation anymore, and it would be ten time easier to balance.
