In the Dragonflight alpha, Hoggers model has been updated to one of the new gnoll models.

What did they do to my boy? Not only did he lose his armor, he lost his tan too! Thats no scourge of elwynn, thats a henchman in a disney movie!
I am hoping that maybe Hogger will get an update where he gets his armor back. I do like the new gnoll models a lot, but Hogger just looks too… plain. It would be nice if he could get at least his shoulderpads back, but the leather vest would be good to get back too!
Please Blizzard, restore Hogger to his former glory.

Literally turned him into Hugger.
Whole model isn’t good and didn’t even manage to get fur/skin tones to match original.

The Hogger from HOTS is much better. He looks good enough they could just port the model IMO.

Except there he was in Legion, helping us. We found him in the Shadowlands, but did he die first, or was he so loyal he literally followed us into hell?

Not exactly. Hogger was dead. If you had mission table Hogger, none of that is canon lore.
He officially died in Cata and his lore doesn’t continue until BfA and it’s just this:
Following the death of the gnoll, Shaw mentions that the 
[Hogger’s Trousers] are kept in the stockade by guards as a memento that improves the morale of the troops.[2]
Maybe Legion was Hogger Jr.

We had Meatball, who is a different Gnoll. Who I miss. It was nice seeing him in the Shadowlands, but didn’t get to use him as a battle companion. So I was sad. Just wanted to go onsome adventures again.

The new model is a vast improvement.
They could probably do something to spice Hogger in particular up a bit, though.

I LOVE Gnolls, and I’ve been eager to see them made relevant again. But I agree, he looks way too different. Really, I don’t think they were particularly well-served by reusing the Worgen model.
Or rather, I feel like it needs to be a whole lot “chunkier” and smaller. I always imagined more Dwarf-sized, much chunkier torso, and probably making their hands and feet more like “paws” than “claws”.
Now, having SAID that, I would honestly be down with seeing Gnolls added as an Allied Race. I think they could be a WHOLE lot of fun. They also seem like they would make excellent candidates as Shaman and maybe even Druid options.
