Fix Great Vault

Great Vault is terrible system that doesn’t solve it’s goal at all (it was supposed to reduce RNG on loot compared to weekly chest from previous expansions).

There’s multiple problems with Great Vault as it is:

  • Too high requirements for additional loot choices defeat whole purpose Great Vault was added to begin with. Those requirements should be reduced significantly. For example for M+ it should be reduced to 1/3/5 dungeons (down from 1/4/10), for raids reduced to 2/4/6 bosses (down from 3/7/10).
  • Loot offered from Great Vault should use some kind of smart loot system that looks at your gear and offers upgrades for slots you have worst items equipped in. It should not offer loot for duplicate slots as well.

Proposed changes aim to increase amount of useful loot you get from Great Vault. Quantity of loot doesn’t change.

Point #1 and #2 are contradictory.

What’s the point of farming additional slots if I know I’m guaranteed to get an upgrade?

How do you farm 226 gear? What are you saying makes no sense…

Its goal is bonus loot not guaranteed upgrades.

If I know I’m going to get a good item in my worst slot by simply doing a 14, why would I bother doing more than one?

Vault is fine. The problem is the complete lack of drops a lot of people are experiencing.

Or in my case, weapon drops.

This only happen if you have only one worst slot, which is not the case for majority of players. Not an issue at start of the season as well where every slot is a worst.

And you can only get 1 item from Great Vault per week, so it will take many weeks to fill all the slots even with guaranteed upgrades.

Proposed changes will help with your exact problem.

I can get down with your first suggestion. The amount of dungeons/bosses/honor needed to get three options is a bit extreme.

No, it was announced at Blizzcon as a system that will reduce loot RNG from weekly chest. And in it’s current form it doesn’t solve that problem at all due to it’s RNG nature and extreme requirements for additional loot choices.

Literally free extra loot for content you’re doing anyways and people still complain.

Unreal lol

It does that by letting you choose one of up to none choices.

I just don’t understand what you mean lmfao. The first point is valid but at the same time if say I have 6 items less then 220 but you only need to do 1 +10 to get a piece that replaces my items that are less then 220, I would only need to do 1 M+10 because the vault automatically replaces 1 of the items that are lowest. Sure doing more would give 3 choices of gear but that wouldn’t be the case for most people they’d just do 1 cause its a guaranteed upgrade.

While the system sucks now when you get a piece you already have at the ilvl your getting the vault, it still has 3 choices or more if you do more then just M+.

I also think there should be a guy near the vault to toggle the options. Like if you don’t want to do a certain form of content the vault offers, you can then swap them for more options of your preferred content even if its a fee or something. You should only be able to swap 1 of the rows though.

This way if you want to do a ton of M+ content you get 6 choices or if you want to only do pvp you can have 6 options or same for raids, but only 1 of the rows can be changed and at the cost of something like soul ash or something.

If you have 6 items that need to be replaced it will take you at least 6 weeks to replace them with proposed system and you may still get items with suboptimal stats (see below). With current system you may never get items for slots you need at all (and this is big problem). See the difference?

And by making unlocking more choices easier you can choose items with better stats than you already have. So more you do, the better still compared to someone who only does one M+.

I’m collecting condensed stygia every week so I can socket all my gear.

Sure as long as failed runs stop counting, and the ilvl of the GV loot matches the ilvl of the loot you get from M+ (same as raids).

Tell me where it says 100% guaranteed upgrade, no dupes and perfect stats ? I will give 100 tickets to the state lottery ,it will be better than having one ticket but still not a guarantee

Exactly, My proposed changes are still affected by RNG, because items offered and theirs stats are still RNG, but at least slot isn’t, which is much better than current system. That’s whole point of the changes i’m talking about… And making unlocking additional choices easier will help of other part of the problem current system has by allowing you to choose items with better stats…

No. Failed run is still a run, hell you waste even more time in failed runs than in timed ones. So they still should count.
