Fix for unjust dungeon kicks

Because they get priority backfilled, you’d see people a lot less kick happy if they were put at the back of the list and had to wait.

Just another case of blizzard being either wildly incompetent about incentive structures, or actively malicious. They created a system where kicking a below average player to roll for a new player is the optimal/selfish solution.

No priority backfill for kicks-
Suddenly there is an incentive to not kick unless the person being kicked is very disruptive or afk or so incredibly bad that waiting 5-10 minutes for backfill is worth it.

There ya go, easiest fix for almost all of the unfair kicks. Throw in an escalating deserter debuff that soft resets weekly, and you create incentive for players to not want to be kicked.

30 minutes the 1st
2 hours the 2nd
8 hours the 3rd
32 hours on the 4th
Ect ect.

Drop down 2 “levels” each weekly reset so habitual baddies are punished.

This would be a good idea if you actually needed a tank to finish.

I was on my Monk one time during a Panda time walking, and I was a DPS and sped through as not miss this very glitchy elevator to the second floor. (Mogu’shan vaults)

I was kicked for not staying with the group which imo wasn’t necessary since all the monsters were already dead.

People are weird but I can see why blizzard doesn’t want to babysit the complaints about the kick system.

This would get abused.

The only thing they needed to do is re-implement this:

Wrath-Logo-Small.png Patch 3.3.5 (2010-06-22): The functionality of the Vote Kick feature in the Dungeon Finder will now behave differently according to a player’s history with the system. Players using the Dungeon Finder who rarely vote to kick players from a group, or rarely abandon groups before a dungeon is complete, will find that the Vote Kick option will have no cooldown. For players who frequently abandon groups or vote to kick other players, the Vote Kick option will be kept on a cooldown. This functionality will adjust itself as a player’s behavior while using the Dungeon Finder changes.

The solution is to remove the ridiculous debuff. Its antiquated and needs to be removed from the game.
If someone doesnt wanna run in the dungeon then so what? Let em leave and do other things.

The problem is the massive disparity in number of tanks (and to a lesser degree healers) and DPS. If DPS wanted to ditch, that wouldn’t really impact things (it might actually be good for queue times overall). But with there already being too few tanks to go around, a tank that group hops makes it take longer for groups waiting on a tank to get one.

This would be part of an escalating debuff which would minimize the ability to abuse it. So yes someone could use it to get out of a dungeon debuff free but they could only do it 1 time and after that they would start to get the debuff. I’d take a few players abusing it 1 time over the way it currently is. I’ve also suggested before making it so if you leave or are kicked from a dungeon prior to it’s completion that if you requeue again within 30 minutes that you would be guaranteed to get the same dungeon with of course a different group making it pointless to force a kick to get a different dungeon.

Re-implementing the changes listed would help, I’m not sure why they ever turned that off in the first place.

At least you didn’t say you were kicked for “literally no reason.”

Thus the problem. The system is fine as is aside from what I posted. The only time these threads come up is when a certain group is back from forum vacation to push a narrative out of obsession.

The debuff for being kicked is a necessary evil. They had to put it in due to people abusing the system. Your idea would encourage people to abuse the system again and hold groups hostage for as long as they don’t get a debuff.

At a point you pretty much are left with no choice but to draw this conclusion.

seems Ion and crew have finally acknowleged the bad behavior and so given us follower dungeons and delves so we no longer need to play with bad players. :+1:

lol…pretends to ask a question the literally confirms my statement for me.

ignored.

Blizzard has repeatedly stated that you can kick for any reason.

And then what? They barely have mods that take care of serious issues, they sure as hell won’t be more on this trivial one.

agreed
I think we all know on all sides that blizz ISNT gonna put a dime into this so yeah…

the kick feature itself needs to be altered to reduce the problems caused by it as it stands now

Nobody wants to spend 45 minutes in a dungeon they’ve done 100s to 1000s of times

That issue was created by having the timeout for one scenario and not for another back then.
remove the timeout entirely…problem solved…no tanks holding anyone hostage because they can just leave, no timeout…and the other four players can get a new tank without the drama

Now I need to spam button for 5 seconds before i can kick?

This would be a very minor problem at worst. If someone decides to hold a group hostage and gets kicked they could only do it once a week at most without incurring a debuff. This is a far lesser problem than someone having to be locked out of content they are trying to complete for 30 minutes because some clown thought it would be funny or because they made a mistake that added an extra 10 seconds to a dungeon run, etc.

It wouldn’t. This doesn’t need a change.

Besides being inflammatory and dismissive, you completely missed the point where getting a 30 minute ban from queued content is the crux of the issue. No fellow players should have the ability to impose a 30 minute ban from queued content on anyone else. THAT is the unfair part that these threads are made over. The kick system itself is fine, but the power to temporarily ban other players from queued content for ANY or NO REASON isn’t fine.
