The abusers are a small % of the player base. I hope Blizzard wipe everything from them to fix this issue.
Blizzard
“However, we also want to assure you that the issue is a much smaller problem than some people are claiming. We’ve been closely monitoring the effect layering is having on economies and other aspects of the game, and many of the stories we see posted are wildly inaccurate. We’ve seen screenshots of banks full of rare crafting materials, which we’ve investigated and proved false.”
Also Blizzard
“We’ve recently become aware of a bug that could be exploited to allow instanced encounters to be completed repeatedly. We have developed a fix for the issue, and we are in the process of deploying it worldwide.”
Well played
Do I get 500g in my mailbox for reporting this bug?
You get your own streaming community
Delete the characters, the items, the gold, hardware ban, IP ban, blizzard account ban, and permanently name ban future Blizzard accounts for everyone that did this dungeon layering exploiting.
In what way has the economy been “totally ruined”? I see this melodramatic nonsense posted throughout but nothing to back it up.
What about players who are abusing the Layering system to harvest multiple mining/herbal nodes? I am constantly reporting those who do this because it is giving them an unfair advantage in their profession, which in turn boosts their Gold intake. they are exploiting to get ahead of the curve! you guys explain in the post above “methods not expressly authorized by Blizzard, influencing and/or facilitating the gameplay, including exploits of any in-game bugs, and thereby granting you and/or any other user an advantage over other players not using such methods.” that this would follow under cheating and should be a bannable offense.
Remember if they get banned in classic, their bfa is banned too since the shared sub!
Lol double whammy!
I would personally love to see this but am willing to bet Blizzard goes soft because streamers are involved.
Nothing will happen because this is the soft blizzard crew that is more worried about money rather than game play.
GASP… more problems caused by layering?
You don’t say…
True however accidentally stumbling upon something like this (and then asking how to proceed forward in the raid, and that’s even if that bug was the one we are talking about) and purposely doing it like how that one person did in the Gnomeregan clip. Intent is the big key.
I would rather a bad person go free than a good one go to jail. However when you catch that bad person, oh boy make it hell on Earth while also making an example out of them to everyone else. The reason being is that a bad person will screw up again while the good person won’t if shown the consequences.
If I were Blizzard I would live stream the banning process and everyone’s characters involved in getting deleted and have the raw data showing how many accounts were banned. Put the fear of God into everyone that cheating is to not be tolerated.
Get rid of the layers please.
They will before phase 2
Rare items have potentially been flooded into the economy. The selling of these items have skewed the gold in the favour of those farming them and as such they have a much greater influence over the AH and its prices. In addition to this, rare recipes will start undercutting each other which will devalue their worth. Those who buy cheap rare recipes will start crafting them thus also devaluing the crafts worth, which then in turn further devalues regular players lesser crafts since better stuff is up for cheaper. Thus the ripple effect continues. From the other perspective, lots of expensive things being vendored increases total gold in the economy and inflates prices of normal items. Thus those on the casual or smell-the-roses leveling speed will struggle.
I mean, right now please X) it is absolutly butchering the game.
So basically the better crafted items will be cheaper but that’s a bad thing? Um okay.
it is absolutly a bad thing, thats not how economy works. Expensive things need to be expensives, you dont just buy a damn house for 50$ dont you ?
The majority exploiting will have a massive gold advantage and control the economy. Yes it is a bad thing for others trying to make gold without those rare recipes because they played the game properly. The balance of Gold is important in Classic. Especially for classes that require frequent respecs or those that enjoy both PvE and PvP (and such have to drop 50g all the time).
Printing goods and then receiving legitimate currency. Brilliant idea and happens alot in certain markets IRL and is a great way to make money if you are one of the first few people into the market (sort of like a pyramid scheme). Once others realize how to do that the market becomes flooded and the goods approach near zero profit.
And then rinse and repeat. Closing this type of exploit is great and all but Blizzard needs to go after the people that did this. Those people and others like them won’t stop cheating and economy abuse because there will always be upcoming and fringe markets, not to mention exploits (as code gets added/turned on to any game). There is an air of pre-crime associated here but Blizzard isn’t a law-abiding body and thus isn’t beholden to such types of laws.
