Fix Booty bay guards

You have let the SOD power creep get to Wotlk levels.
The guards in Booty bay dont cut it.

5 man groups running around killing afks and lowbies and everyone with impunity.
Waterwalk, block, vanish. Completely bypass these guards.
Abusing jump spots. Ect. Letting guards kill players that fight back.
Zero consequences for farming honor non stop, ganking in a town, at a port.
What is a dishonorable kill if not for this.
This has been going on nonstop for weeks.

And you put the reals vendor here.
None of this is how it was in classic. This should be addressed to reflect the changes made in SoD, that made this possible.

AKA this mass pvp in a player hub with guards, is possible because of the updates to SoD.
AKA the guards should be updated to address this.

Pvp on a pvp server, insane.

This happened on phase 2 of classic constantly what are u on about?

If they aren’t going to balance the game on a PvP server then they need to let us transfer off of them.

Ive seen worse. Alliance Spriest standing NEXT to several guards just PVPing and they ignore him, as he kills everyone. Auto attack him back though and the guards all aggro you lol.

Broken game.

making the guards stronger so it compares more to 2019 classic disparities is the answer, not making the game unplayable. I know you are terrible at PVP and are bitter PVP servers exist so you hope they break but with proper game design this can all work together just fine.

We aren’t playing SoD to have it be the original version of the game though.

Seems like a random accusation for someone who isn’t complaining about PvP happening on a PvP server. Classic PvP isn’t about skill regardless, it’s just meant for a trolly good time. Nothing about it is balanced, and the sooner one accepts that, the more they’ll enjoy it. If you’re raging about getting shanked in a goblin town, you should probably re-evaluate your life choices.

guards presented a certain level of deterrent in 2019 classic / 2004

Now that everyone does 10x the damage and has wotlk and beyond spells (except warrior) the guards being left in their current state dont do enough

and theyre also super bugged i.e. one alliance can stand next to three guards and attack anyone he wants nearby but the moment you retaliate the guards aggro on you

A ā€œrandom accusationā€ that accurately describes people with your mindset. You overtly hope that PVP servers are unplayable and poorly designed intentionally to prevent players from enjoying a well made, well designed PVP server. The only explanation is a lack of personal ability to exist on a properly made PVP server.

PVP doesnt have to be perfectly balanced to be fun or present a more interesting, dangerous, emergent-gameplay world. But intentionally designing things poorly to its unplayable can only be the work of a small, angry, bitter person that has a personal vendetta against the existence of PVP servers. That’s a fact.

Never in the history of gaming has a competent game designer been like ā€œI should leave my game broken to spite a certain game mode I added to my game.ā€ You know, back in 2004, since the Devs all played horde, when people griefed on zepplins… THEY ADDED GUARDS THAT COULD KNOCK YOU OFF. Why? Because it was the main route between continents that all players of all levels used and it was in contested areas. It should have been added to ships too but they didnt play alliance so they didnt care lol.

But why did they do that? Was it ā€œagainst the spirit of PVPā€? Nope. You could use that zepplin. You could get ganked on it too, but it required a lot more work to manage the guards. And then once you got off that Zepplin in STV to quest, a rogue would murder you once you left the gate. It was all designed around a playable and interesting gameplay loop.

Blocking off critical attunements quests from bad design is just that - bad design. Not ā€œPVP on a PVP serverā€ (same for BB).

Proceeds to describe the concept I was mocking in the original post. The guards were always designed to be killable, maybe not as easily as they are now, but they made a whole title around it in tbc - the bloodsail admiral. Again, PvP happening on PvP servers.

Ah yes, super bugged for alliance… When Horde get a literal teleporter that lets them attack someone, and teleport away mid combat without consequence.

So I’m terrible at PvP, and bitter pvp servers exist? For the first point, take a stroll over to my achievements page, and take a look at that OG WotLK arena master title for me.

Secondly, when they nuked PvP servers from retail, it stopped me from ever being able to play retail for any kind of extended duration, because war mode is just basically PvE servers with /PVP enabled.

Peak world PvP is spontaneous and chaotic. There should be points of contention in neutral towns as it makes it a much more realistic experience, and I think places like shattrath and dalaran taking away that element were a detriment to the game.

What does that even mean? A properly made PvP server would be a server where no one could unflag anywhere, and were always in danger in some form or another.

I have a personal vendetta against PvP servers, despite wanting more PvP on them in towns, and despite having rolled PvP servers ever since I started in OG tbc? Make it make sense please.

Maybe you should look into what Emergent Gameplay is. What you, or the designer, might view as broken, could very easily add another layer of game cycle to the game. I guarantee you there are game designers that have left stuff in that they weren’t intending because the playerbase found something fun out of it.

if it takes you 3 days and the right layer to find an environment where a quest is doable, thats not ā€œplayable.ā€ Oh… are you one of those wierdos that will say ā€œoh well the quest item has a .00001% chance to drop and takes months to farm but its technically doable?ā€ lol. Like a Free2Play game that charges money for a feature but you can farm it after a year, so its still doable!

You openly advocate for PVP servers being terrible experiences, rather than crafted ones where certain areas are dangerous and others have thematic reasons that make PVP harder.

Like you want to know why start zones are not contested? So people can get past level 5. Duh. It adds home-court advantages as well for higher players. Plus its thematically cool.

50 enemy players sitting on a quest NPC that requires being alive for 45 seconds is not emergent gameplay. Emergent gameplay is zones where players in similar quantities are likely to encounter each other naturally and gradually like the traditional leveling route through STV.

You only think this because you lack the reading comprehension skill to understand it. They didn’t want the main transportation channel between continents to be freely camped. They specifically wanted to make PVP harder here. That’s why they added guards, duh.

Yup. But now guards are worth a fraction of what they were, so the point was, they should be buffed. For example, because we do 10x the dps, they buffed the HP of most questing mobs, dungeon mobs, and raid bosses. Sometimes, they didn’t buff them enough. What is KelThuzad died in 20 seconds? The easiest change would be to increase his health.

BB guards should have more damage at a minimum, if not other added lethality (more roots, meathook, stamina, etc).

I barely go there and get in and out no problem, it’s not my cause to fight for, but seeing braindead takes like yours warrants a response. Everytime I see ā€œPVP happened on a PVP serverā€ I have to look to see if its a low-IQ take and it usually is. It’s never a response to some dude whining that he was questing or farming and lost a mob/node to someone more OP killing him. Its players unable to do attunements or function in town and its clearly due to terrible game design and then low-IQ people like you advocate for the destruction of PVP servers as the only solution (i.e. transfer to PVE, deal with it, lol, ā€˜pvp happened’ etc the usual)

yeah they need to buff the guards to the Argent Dawn ones lol, the Argent Dawn guards one shot people, all guards in neutral cities should be able to do that in SoD, or move reals vendor to the capital cities

To be clear to the ā€œPvP happenedā€ people, they added Groklo Moklo to one shot players around Brother Luctus. They’re capable of making BB guards on this tier… they just haven’t spent the resources to do it.
