As we all know, Season of Discovery is agreed by most to be over for the time being. However, I am concerned that Discovery may not see a resurgence like era did in the middle of Wrath, for a number of reasons.
Thus, here are five things I think need to happen to insure that Season of Discovery will remain playable for the forseeable future:
- Rename the servers from Seasonal to Discovery Era.
I think this one is obvious. if the servers are labeled as Seasonal, people will think that they’re gonna get deleted eventually… renaming them to Discovery Era will assure people that they will stick around.
- Rework pre-level sixty raids
This one is also obvious in my mind: we need to get rid of the lockouts so that people can repeat them as much as they want, and get themselves better gear for leveling up easier.
on that note:
- Get rid of Discoverer’s Delight
Classic and Classic Era is supposed to be about the journey, and if people are blitzing their way through the levels like no one’s business, that’s fewer people to play with over all. A slower leveling gives people more people to play with.
- Put Zone events on a weekly timer so that people can schedule time to do them with each other.
This one is pretty obvious to me: If you can only do zone events once a week, like on the weekends, that’s more people to play with during those events.
- Last but not least: allow people to do GDKP’s on Discovery.
However much people decry GDKPs as a gold sellers wet dream, you have to admit that GDKPs give people a motivation beyond just gear to do raids and dungeons. Additionally, GDKPs invigorate player economies in a way that other loot distribution systems just don’t.
All of these changes that I’m proposing are aimed at increasing player interaction and giving players a better motivation to play the game. If they arn’t implemented, I suspect that Discovery will remain dead and that Blizz will just shut down the servers eventually.
If you have any critiques or other proposals, i’d like to hear them.
