Fistweaver PvP Question

Hey Monk Community, I know this may be a broad question, but is Fistweaving hard to learn?

I like the idea of being aggro and doing damage but also healing. Disc isn’t too appealing to be as I enjoy melee specs.

I’d primarily do Arenas (solo shuffle, 2s, maybe 3s) and Random BGs.

Also, is the next seasons Tier set going to be important? I got a late start on my DH this first season and the tier set is used by 99% of DH’s at higher ratings but I’d rather skip the tier set and go vendor / conquest gear if it’s as good.

P.S - I know this seasons Tier set isn’t worth it, according to BankMw.

Thanks ahead of time.

So I rolled a monk for the first time earlier in this expansion. I think it was around 10.0.2 maybe. Right before mistweaver got a decent buff. I’ve been rolling a holy priest since wrath and I wanted to try something a little different.

Leveling it was pretty meh. Nothing really stuck out. But the second I maxed and learned about fist weaving I was in love and knew immediately I was going to have a ton of fun doing pvp. And I was right. I never enjoyed pvp before but now I do everything (war mode, bg, arena solo 2s and 3s) with my fist weaver. I can play aggressively. I have good mobility. I have some decent CC. A reliable interrupt that’s on a cooldowns similar to melee DPS. Specced properly you have a decent but if defensive cooldowns that make you very hard to kill. And a few good healing cooldowns for burst healing.

The DPS “rotation” is very simple but still packs a decent punch. Most of my bgs and arenas my DPS is equivalent to a bad DPS. Or even right behind the DPS if I’m really tuned in.

The problem is that once the cooldowns are used, specifically the healing ones, you have a lack of throughout that other healer classes have. It’s not terrible, but if you’re on CD with your big heals and someone is getting targeted and bursted you probably aren’t keeping them alive unless they’re popping big defensive and what not. Like most other aspects of pvp it’s really about knowing when you’re going to need those CDs most, which I’m still not very good at.

TL;DR I think fist weaving is incredibly fun in pvp with a very versatile kit and great dps for a healer. I think it’s not too difficult to pick up and learn but can me hard to master CDs for good pvp opponents, but that’s to be expected with most classes. And if you need some tips look up Mysticall the monk. He’s on YouTube and twitch. I think he’s like 2800 on his fist weaver and has a ton of guides

Dont be a cringe fotm reroller

I want to heal and it looks fun. I’ll still play it if it get’s nerfed. I don’t fotm reroll… I’ve mained DH for like 3 xpacs LOL

I tested out a dungeon quick last night. Didnt have a mouse or really comprehend the healing spells. Dps rotation is easy. I was just spamming the other insta heals on cd.

Are there specific healing spells I should avoid and others I should use on proc / cd?

This weekend I’ll dive more into it or just try to learn after boosting to 60.

Thanks ahead of time!

I don’t ever recommend boosting a healer you’ve never played before. MW has a lot of nuance to them. Better to level up doing dungeons/pvp and learn the kit one spell at a time. Just my 2 cents.

Agreed. With how easy it is to level I never recommend boosting a character. Learning through leveling is more organic with the kit and talents.

Yeah it’s definitely easier to grasp the abilities that way and build up the keybinds rather being thrown an entire spellbook at you to figure out.

Appreciate the advice.

It is literally the Frost DK of healing. It’s dead simple. In PvE I bet you could get away with just keeping up Ancient teachings, and hitting Tiger palm to Blackout to Rising sun and literally do nothing else and still succeed

I hit 1806 RSS after 6 games fistweaving. Fastest I’ve ever done it. My profile says 7 games, but that’s because someone left my first RSS game after 1 round.

My total record is 30-7. NEVER have I ever had a win ratio like that. It gave me a loss when that dude left so it’s really 30-6, and one of those loses I died while at the same time casting ToD on a shaman. We both died, but I got the loss.

I’ve been trying out fistweaver after having my mw alt for years.
What is the best way to heal and live for arenas? I really like the melee heal aspect of it but if I’m caught in a stun or cc too long, myself or my teammates just get annihilated.

Any advice or good guides for it?
