Why does fist of fury still do reduced aoe damage to the aoe targets? Eye beam is literally the same ability has way longer range, sure you can move with fist of fury but you cover more ground with eye beam. Same channel time it’s literally the same ability except demon hunters can’t move and get metamorphosis, monks can move and do reduced aoe damage. Is it supposed to be balanced around SEF? Because after playing both that just seems so stupid that eye beam > fist of fury. I would also like to point out it is the only aoe spell that does reduced aoe damage.
How does the damage compare?
According to Wowhead:
Eye Beam 225% AP / 2s
Fists of Fury 600% AP / 4s
The cleave
Eye Beam 150% / 2s
FoF 300% / 4s
Cooldown
Eye Beam 30s
FoF 24s (+ BoK)
I prefer FoF.
Duration doesn’t match up in less it scales amazing well with a small amount of haste but your damage is right. Just misremembered DH eye beam.
The reason FoF cleaves for half on live is likely because of how hard we could shred M+ keys in Legion. SCK + MotC limitless stacking and FoF’s cleave let us rip mass pulled packs to pieces. MotC was nerfed going into BfA and so was FoF. Personally, i’d have left FoF the same and just nerfed MotC, but at least we still have 100% cleave on FoF during PvP with Turbo Fists.
As for Eye Beam, its damage was doubled on the DH’s target to make it more of an ST type of ability. Though, i don’t think that change needed to be done since every DH and their mother ran the Demonic Build since Antorus. Honestly, it felt like DH was trying to copy more from WW with that change.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m jealous of other cleaves. I’m curious if I’ll drool over Wake of Ashes in Shadowlands. Falloff damage between that and FoF is equal at 5 targets with Monk surpassing cleave damage at 6+… I don’t know if FoF has an AoE cap and where that occurs…
However, using what I do know, at up to 4 targets, Wake cleave damage would end up being a little better as long as the damage is scaled pound-for-pound (but also, Wake is not channeled… which seems to concern Monks more, that we’d rather not have a channeled powerful spender).
At expansion start (no gear or powers), we’re more likely to see packs of 3 (or <=4), so Wake cleave early on will make me green (with envy, not just because I’m an orc). But monk cleave should help later on when the expac inevitably degenerates to “round em up, burst em down”.
Well in slands aren’t they capping aoe to 5 targets?
I’ll Sudoku if so… FSK off Stormheim
for me the only big problem with FoF is because it only hit 5 times in 4 seconds cast ( teorically because with ~10% haste it go to 3.6/3.5 second cast) if it has more hits in this couple of seconds, like 10 or more hits it will be really great (of course reducing the dmg per hit) , or reduce the cast time to 3 secs.
btw a lot of time we have to cancel FoF to iterrupt or CC someting…
Yeah, that’s why I like the build I been messing with, I get fof back so quick
Put the link here if you can - it was a good read!
This?
lol that’s sound good, playing with serenity is way better than SEF, if serenity has 2 charge it will be perfectly
With ineff and vop major that’s rather pointless honestly.
yeah, but I don’t think VoP will be good for pvp, I still prefer conflict in this situation, i honestly hate dragon punch but we need it right now…
Would beg to differ.
With it I am able to more and more fof. Which is way stronger than stun reduc.
