When I Ice fish in The Azure Span, I do not earn any skill points in DF Fishing. Is this as designed?

I think so. The ice fishing uses a different mechanism. You don’t cast your fishing rod, you right click to drop a line, then click to pick it up.
As a result it does not seem to trigger the normal fishing code routines that can result in skill points.
The other two types of special fish work I believe.
