Is there any way to see how much perception you have when fishing?

I have not seen any other than to manually calculate it based on what you are wearing etc

what does it even do vs just getting more +fishing from other bonus?

To my knowledge perception increases the chances of the more rare fish to drop⌠while fishing level increases the chances to catch a fish. I do not know if there are any overlap where perception increases the chance of fish to be caught as well or not but yeah that is my understanding.

Having maxed out fishing I can say that I have no idea what perception or fishing skill actually do since open water fishing is still mostly garbage and pools are exactly the same as when I started.

Took me a bit, but I figured it outâŚ
If you have high fishing, but low perception, you will catch a lot of white fish and some green fish.
If you have high perception and low fishing skill, you will get a bunch of gray items, but the fish you do catch will be green or blue.
At first fishing skill is the most important thing. Each zone goes up by about 75ish skill to catch fish. If you canât catch fish, then perceptions doesnât do anything.
Letâs say you maxed out on skill, then perception is better in every zone except the last one, as you will need more then 375 fishing to consistently catch in the zone.
The goal is to get around 400 fishing with everything else in perception to consistently fish the best fish in the game.
