Fishing perception makes Weaverline pointless

Maybe, but I have only gotten perception procs from pools and pools make fishing skill irrelevant. I would rather max my chance to perception multi catch with the enchant because open water just doesn’t feel worth

True, and I already spent the 10k for the perc chant and applied it to my i590 fishing rod

So I guess we’ll both find out in a few weeks of using it.

Psure we still get the threads to drop so we can bank them in the event we want to change back to weaverline later.

This is the way to min max it. You use the perception enchant till the line is buffed enough. Also buying ghoulfish delight is pretty much a must.

I can make those and I seem to be a magnet for the ghoulfish

Don’t get me started on the Cursed Ghoulfish…idk how many times I’ve tossed a cursed ghoulfish to “ward” against catching one in a blood in the water pool and caught a ghoulfish on the next cast. Fishing is just kinda bricked this expansion…

The fishing line stuff is very weird and confusing/convoluted lol.

You need a tailor to craft the initial item, the spool or whatever, and apply it to your fishing rod before you can even use the threads from fishing.

I had a bunch sitting in my bag and was wondering why I couldn’t just affix them to the pole.

Also, does the ghoulfish curse even do anything? It says “your rod is heavy” like you can’t catch fish anymore, but the debuff never prevented me from catching more fish, so I don’t even bother to get rid of it.

Especially since ghoulfish can be used for cooking, why would I want to throw them back?

I think it lowers skill. You still catch fish but seems to make them lower quality more often. Least it feels like it. There is a helpful bug with that but im not sure if it counts as an exploit or not so won’t share it.

Tossing a ghoulfish back removes the debuff, which prevents catching fish in open water. You can still catch fish from pools with the debuff, and tossing one back doesn’t prevent catching more ghoulfish either. This may be a mixup with dottybacks, which do prevent catching ghoulfish while their buff is active.

If you’re fishing from pools, you never have to toss ghoulfish back because the debuff has no effect on pool fishing.

Wait … I thought fishing was my thing this expansion? How can one thread have so much info I was oblivious about? How am I so far behind on all this?

Just to clarify, putting the new enchant on will remove both the +perception and the +skill on the Weaverline?

When I applied the perception enchant to my fishing rod it replaced the weaverline enchant.

I don’t have enough threads to get either of the 2 account wide buffs so for me it wasn’t a huge loss.

Look under Professions>fishing in your achieves to see the tracker for the anglerthread and seekerthread.

The weaverline is an enchant, so yes, if you use another enchant on that fishing pole, the weaverline will be replaced by that and you’ll lose whatever weaverline bonus you were getting from it.

The amount of threads you’ve used on that character is saved though, so if you ever reapply a weaverline it’ll still have whatever bonus you’ve acquired up to that point.

Idk why they changed this anyway. Fishing was fine as far as i could tell. The only dupes im getting are those cursed fish.

The “trophy” fish is just the first one you catch of that type during the derby. It isn’t any different than any other fish.

That would have been nice.
I went to throw it on my underlight and it wanted to replace my enchant.

Was like “lol? Heck no”. Especially if you don’t have a lot of weaves. Its a massive downgrade.

Ah I see. I would deffinetly want the automatic +120 to perception but losing out the +skill on the rod I have (though only like +15) is a feelsbad.

Any of you guys craft a second fishing rod and apply the +120 perception enchant to it while keeping your initial rod with the weaver thread on it? That way we can level up the rod with the weaverthread and switch the rod once it becomes +100 on both skill and perception. Just curious if this is a thing/doable.

If the game treats the weaverline like an enchant then I don’t see why it wouldn’t.

I had tools in DF with different stats/enchants for different crafts.

Leave it to Blizzard to turn something simple and relaxing like fishing into yet another convoluted mess.

Also, why do we need 50 different types of fish? In the last couple of expacs I could have about 3 vertical columns of guild bank storage for ALL foods (meat and fish). That’s including anything that came with late expac, like having Naz’jatar add new fish that didn’t exist in main BFA zones. Now I think I’m up to 4 columns of cooking mat storage in the warbank (which ain’t exactly cheap, either), and I’m still finding new meats and fish that I don’t already have a stack of.

Where does one find this pole?

It is crafted. I forget the exact name of it.
