So with the recent changes to fishing and perception effecting the chance for you to multi catch fish, why would I spend months farming line to max my rod to 100 perception when you can literally buy an enchant that makes it have 120 perception instantly? As far as I can tell, the only way you can fish up the multi catch is through pools where fishing skill doesn’t matter. I’ve been loving TWW but fishing has really missed the mark this expansion. It feels bad having invested so much acuity into it…

I mean presumably they stack? 220 perception is better than 120.

I guess the weaverline does serve double duty by providing both +skill for open water fishing and perception.
Also, ghoulfish delight’s bonuses get doubled for pandaren. 300 perception food buff is huge!

^ yea this here, its 100 skill, and 100 perception. Lets you fish open waters for no trash I think?
I’ve never caught more than 1 fish at a time and my fisherman’s perceptions is 329 with weaverline and several of the other threads applied.
I got the i590 fishing pole
fishing skill is at 300
All fish unlocked, except for the trophy ones, I’ve not done the fishing derby yet.

Have you open water fished more than pools? I have found with a max fishing cap, max fisherfriend, ghoulfish delight, and fishing skill from my line I can’t make open water fishing feel nearly as profitable as pool fishing. At which point I would rather just have as much perception to multi catch the pools.
Perception got ‘fixed’ fairly recently for fishing. Like within the past week or so? It was never mentioned in any hotfixes though.

Yeah, I don’t really hunt for pools very often anymore. Even during the derby, I’ll just park next to the NPC until I complete it unless it’s a fish that seemingly has to be caught from a pool. Lazy fishing is the best!

k, my fishing pole says I have 329 perception and +8 fishing
While fishing , if I mouse over the little fish buff I see it says
+0 Khaz Algar Fishing
+3 Khaz Algar Perception
So not sure which one means what.
the stats on the fishing pole don’t seem to adding any benefit.
How do know how much perception you have? I can’t find that value anywhere.
If you have 329 percpetion, then it seems like perception does stack. Of what benefit would the Ghoulfish Delight ( https://www.wowhead.com/item=225855/ghoulfish-delight ) be if perception did not stack?
Overall though, I still don’t know what perception does or what it affects.
Yeah, the point of the post is you could spend weeks maybe months maxing your weaverline. Or you could go to the AH right now and make your fishing pole have 120 perception. Fishing skill is irrelevant if you are fishing pools exclusively.
It’s a stat on my fishing pole.
You can mouse over it on the fishing journal and see the stas on it.
While fishing you get a buff that looks like a little fish.
Mouse over that and it shows stats also.

I just had to manually calculate it:
Fishing cap: 46
Fisherfriend: 329
Enchant: 120
Ghoulfish Delight: 150
=645 perception
Are you guys talking about “Enchant Tool - Algari Perception”?
at 10k each I don’t want to experiment with buying the wrong ones.
also, my fishing pole says +18 fishing skill, but while fishing the buff says 0.
something isn’t adding up here.
Why does fishing have to be this complicated?
