Fishing not leveling

I trained all the fishing skills for every expansion. I just got the 25 fish achievent while fishing in Stormwind. My fishing level is still level one. Even after completing the fishing daily for Stormwind. Has there been some weird change to fishing in the last 7 months??

There’s a seperate fishing skill for each expansion now and
Stormwind might be a bit wierd because it likely counts as both a classic zone and a cataclysm zone depending on your level… Alas, I haven’t leveled a new alt in Shadowlands, so I can’t confirm exactly how it works post level-squish world.

You have to unlock it in the cash shop.

Fishing is a different skill per every zone now.
So make sure you actually have the skill for the zone your in.

Took me forever to figure it out too

I know of the separate fishing for each xpac, but SW isn’t leveling up. I just trained in Boralus and fished up some fish. That did level up fishing for that xpac.

Is your Cata fishing going up when you fish in SW?

Kul Tiran is the only one that has gone up and that was while in Kul Tiras. I understand how the fishing works now, but see no reason why it won’t level while fishing in SW.

Not sure then. I haven’t payed attention to fishing level ever since they rendered it essentially moot.

You have a point there. Not really a needed thing these days if I remember correctly. Thanks for the input though.

You buy basic fishing, and from the same trainer you can buy fishing for most other expansions but not BfA. When you fish in a classic zone, your “fishing” should be getting skill ups.

So for each fishing skill you have to fish in zones specific for that expansion.

Examples:
Vanilla fishing you need to fish in Stormwind, Elwynn Forest, Arathi Highlands, Dustwallow Marsh.

Burning Crusade fishing you’d fish in Zangarmash, Terokar Forest, Nagaland

Wrath of the Lich King you’d fish in those zones key to those expansions to level up their skills.

So fishing in Boralus you’re leveling up your BFA fishing and not your vanilla fishing.

They (Blizzard) should really fix the 1-300 skillups for ‘vanilla’ to something less.

Just curious, as the forum toon may not have updated to reflect actual level in game, but are you leveling via Chromie time?

Maybe that has something to do with it.

Lvling prof now is a pain, i miss the old ways, fishing and mining and well any gathering prof seems to take for ever to lvl now
