It’s so boring, takes forever to level, feels like a legit job/work, and 99.9% of the things you get are not going to make money to be worth it. You’ll hear about people getting bags and selling them for massive gold, but that’s extremely rare. You’ll probably just be catching fish that don’t sell for crap most of the time. Not to mention you’ll need a big iron fishing rod, which on my server goes for over 20g. And on top of that, you’ll be getting one-shotted by high level mobs trying to get to the fishing spots.
Okie dokie. Noted.
Don’t like it, don’t do it.
In my case I agree with you, but I don’t complain because I haven’t fished in WoW in probably 10 years and that doesn’t bother me.
It’s okay to not participate in certain content.
do you really need a fishing pole i have fished up plenty of uncommon items with a strong fishing pole and lures i think its skill issue
Not using punctuation is a skill issue.
Fishing is the one secondary profession I almost never level
Ever sat at a table?
It can be an amazingly exciting or phenomenally boring experience and many other things as well.
As an aside, I feel that correcting someone’s grammar (or punctuation/spelling, etc) is akin to telling a hunter their pet has growl on auto.
Fishing is giga boring but has made me somewhere between 100-200g, all of it on the coast of alterac mountains.
No big iron fishing rod required, and all pools can be fished from without aggroing mobs.
You also don’t only make profit from 0.1% of the things, the trunks you fish up commonly have mana/healing pots that sell like hot cakes. You also get plenty of rumsey rum black label and stranglekelp, which also sell quite well.
It’s a rare chance to make even more profit if you get a bag or a valuable pattern/recipe, or greenie with good stats for P2.
Ps. I feel that correcting somebody’s grammar usually means: you’re right and I have nothing to counter with so I’m just going to point out your bad grammar.
Dang you’re gonna get banned for that one. Not being able to post on the forums tomorrow = skill issue.
Lighten up, Francis.
Touch grass. You’ve been trolling these forums for decades. Literally. And on the same toon.
ITT: An angry gnome who hates fishing SO MUCH.
I tend to skip fishing too; I level my cooking by just grinding beasts. I will say fishing up stonescale eels and winter squid is good money though.
The problem is that if even one or two other people are fishing in the same area, which is usually the case for spots like Alterac Mountains / Tanaris / STV, your profit per hour goes down dramatically. You’d be lucky to get 5 - 10g per hour if even one other person is fishing in the same area, which is about in line with what you can get from other professions like herbalism / alchemy and what not.
That’s not bad money, especially at 25… but if you want big ticket phase 2 items which are probably going to cost 1000+ gold minimum, fishing just isn’t an efficient and feasible way to earn serious gold. You’re basically forced to level a mage and boost people, level a warlock for summons if you feel like paying three subscriptions, or play AH tycoon and spend all day flipping stuff.
I usually level them together. I think some people think fishing is slow, particularly in Classic, because they are fishing in the wrong places. Like if you are underleveled, you’ll miss a lot of casts, and won’t get the skillups.
The pond in front of the WC entrance is great, and gives something to do while waiting for your party to arrive. Unless of course you’re that guy, who is the last to arrive, says thigns like, “lemme just take 20 minutes finishing up this quest, hearth to SW to turn it in, and train swords while the whole party waits at the entrance to WC for me, rq.”
You just described 90% of Classic. I’m curious to hear what you actually consider “fun” in this game.
Or, you can just learn how to actually make gold.
I like fishing. It’s fun when you start getting little things to put out while fishing like picnic basket. I like making fishing outfits.
Yeah… by being the correct class or playing the AH skillfully as mentioned. We’re at level 25 and options for earning serious gold (in the range of thousands) are limited. The point is, fishing isn’t an especially good gold maker. It’s overrated as OP points out.
