Was able to complete it on 1 out of 3 toons today—and that was with me not ganking other people’s nodes because I’m not an animal.

Fishing derby is very difficult to complete when it requires the Queenfish Lure fish.

Checked the fishes required with an alt, hopped back on the main to buy the lure and the fishes to throw back. FP to the derby and get to fishin. Took about 10 min. Then flew in the whole alt army for quicky complete and funnel the threads to the main. Should have 1 of the 100 threads finished next week and Ill start building the other 100. Really convivial event.

The interest has faded some. Saturday mornings used to be busy, busy, busy. Now it isn’t so bad.

That’s what killed me. I timed out on my main, and was able to do it in 10 mins on an alt. Second alt timed out too.
I did the derby for first time, also did the achievement for mount…was not hard. Had 15 minutes to spare on timer, and that’s catching all the fish for the ugly mount.
Honestly that’s one of the easier fish to get. You can buy Regal Dottyback on the AH and throw that into open water to fish up the Queen’s lurefish, right next to the derby quest giver even. It does not require a pool.

I’d rather not waste gobs of gold buying Regal Dottybacks when I can find a Royal Ripple → Fish up a Dottyback → Throw the Dottyback back into the Ripple → Immediately fish up the Queenfish Lure with 100% catch chance.

It becomes really easy once you get fishing skill over 425 - you can basically stand at the trainer and catch everything with the help of the odd buff fish.
Unfortunately, by the time you usually get up there you no longer really need to do it.

Are you able to catch fish that are not up in this week’s quest for the mount? I haven’t had one of the events pop that lets me get those fish so I don’t have the mount yet.
Yes. You need to accept the quest, and catch all the fish before it ends. If you run out of time, you can swap to an alt and catch the missing ones.

Gobs of gold? They are 16g a piece right now. You were complaining about how difficult it is yet there multiple ways to get the fish needed. It’s not difficult.
Most of the time, for me at least, I get it first or second cast so I only need one regal dottyback. Definitely not gobs of gold.

It does feel frustrating spending half and hour or so trying to get a specific pool to spawn, but if one knows where to focus, it’s very rare to fail outright.
(Admittedly I was down to 2 min on my last derby run before calling its night, but part of that was because I still haven’t unlocked the hammerhead lure from skinning yet and had a long string of bad luck on bloody pools)

I failed that derby twice because I couldn’t find pools. That lure can be bought from the AH. I would be surprised if it cost more than 50g

I completed it more times than is probably healthy. Not the full warband, but most of it.
(I’ve decided that using the AH for anything but recipes and collectables is taboo for me in TWW)
Yeah well I literally have everything off that vendor and have both 100 skill and 100 perception achievements and 50 pages in my warbank as well as 4 maxed out fishing characters and I am still doing it on 10 characters a week for some unknown reason. I think I like it now it is easier and I can get everything without having to hunt for pools.
Bloody pools did me in. I was able to do it on 2 toons, and failed on 2 because I couldn’t find bloody pools in time. The rest was easy.
