Fishing bobber sounds from other players

Today I was doing a fishing WQ, and I noticed we can hear every other nearby player’s fishing bobber when they catch a fish, when we should only hear our own. This can become frustrating since you have to keep your eyes glued on your bobber to know if it’s your catch or someone elses.

Yes! I was fishing at the Darkmoon Faire today and noticed this, too! I was going crazy trying to remember not to click the bobber too soon when I heard it. This was an issue in Vanilla and now Classic but has not been present for the past couple years I returned to play until this week.

I noticed the issue when I was doing the world quest “Fishing: Bloodthroated Grouper” in Revendreth.

Yeah just noticed this today after reset while doing the fishing world quest. This is definitely a bug since there was an intentional change made in either Legion or BFA to disable all bobber sounds that aren’t yours.

This is still happening. I always notice during the Darkmoon Faire because I am fishing closely to others.

do we know if there is a fix in the works for this? it really is annoying, especially when on a world quest when surrounded by a lot of other players. fishing is annoying enough without this bug.

Glad to see I’m not the only one who is annoyed by this.

I hope it gets fixed.

This still seem to be a thing and I do not remember it being the case before, this is extremely annoying, I like to watch stream or other video on my second screen and just casually fish while waiting for Blanchy to spawn but other people have the same idea and it turns into 3-5 fishing Bobbers sound making it impossible for me to watch other videos I have to watch my WoW screen like an hawk which just make me not want to fish at all.

Okay, we’re now into February and Blizz still hasn’t fixed this…they also still, so far as I can find, haven’t given us the ability to change in-game sounds (like the fishing bobber).

Please fix this annoying bug, and also please bring back functionality we enjoyed for WELL over a decade before you took it away!!!

Still happening. Fishing as a group is annoying.

Check out the adon Fishing Buddy.
One of its options is to increase the sound made by your own bobber.

You can still hear the other bobbers, but your own is distinctively louder.

Hearing other people’s fishing bobber isn’t a bug. It was bugged not to hear it for a while–which was nice, but not how things were from when I started playing. Too bad they noticed.

Well, they said changing the White War Talbuk from that neon purple to normal grey after 600 years was a bug fix, but players weren’t thrilled and it was reverted. Here’s hoping they do that again, especially with one of the best QoL changes patches we’ve had in a bit on the horizon

Still not fixed. I missed the days when (1) you could change the bobber sounds to something more distinctive, and (2) couldn’t hear other players’ bobbers. I rarely fish, these days, when I used to love it.

The addon Fishing Buddy has an option to enhance fishing sounds. It adds increased loudness to your bobber sound… and not to other peoples bobber sounds.

Loud enough to readily discern the difference.

Enhancing fishing sounds makes EVERYTHING louder. Also doesn’t change the bobber sounds, which are sometimes rather subtle - at least for me (I have some hearing issues).

February 2022 and this is still as annoying as ever in 9.2. In Zereth Mortis, when there are 10+ people fishing in the Hirukon pool, this is outright painful. There are bobber sounds going off non-stop, and if you take your eyes off your own bobber even for a moment, it’s almost invariably a wasted cast.
