Until today I have never had a nameplate on a fishing bobber. I’m not sure what has changed, or if I did something. For me it now hides the bobber and I only have the sound to know when to act.
I would post a pic of what I mean if I could.
It’s a solid black background with yellow text type, a standard style nameplate.
With the way Blizz do support these days, this isn’t something I could ask there.
Same problem here, it’s obnoxious. Can’t figure out how to fix it. I’ve tried disabling addons, resetting interface and graphics options to default, even completely reinstalled. Annoying.
yes it’s just another bug after maintenance. I’m sure they’re aware and will get sorted next year.
Sadly, I am willing to bet that this was an intentional change. For who? I’ve never in 21 years heard anyone say they wish their bobber was covered by an obnoxious name plate. Wasted development time and effort here.
Today’s maintenance did not fix (revert) this.
Search curseforge for the “Hide Tooltips” addon. You can show/hide tooltips for fishing bobber and fishing pools.
Thanks for that. That one works a treat for the fishing issue. 
This is still a problem for those of us who don’t use addons. Please fix, Blizzard! I already submitted a bug to the bug forum a week or two ago. Let’s hope it gets fixed soon.
