Not sure if this is a bug or not. I was offline for sometime, bought the new expansion and now my fishing and cooking reset to 1. I level fishing back up to 100, went to a trainer to training and it reset it from 100 back to 1 again. I have a trouble ticket in on this, but honestly, it hasn’t been very helpful. I have another friend who is experiencing the same thing who had not played for a while.
Did you learn a new version of fishing? Like, did you go from Cataclysm Fishing to Mists Fishing? It might just be displaying whichever new fishing training skill level you just got, instead of the one you have 100 in.
It says Legion Fishing. I’ve fished a lot since then and it stays on 1. I’m currently Zandalar.
Try fishing in Legion itself (the Broken Isles zones) to see if your Legion Fishing goes up. If it doesn’t, then it’s probably a bug.
I’m back in Broken Isles and Fishing is going up again. Last week, I worked fishing up to 100, then trained, and it reset back to 1. I’ll try it again.

Do you think professions will reset with the new expansion that is coming out? I’m wondering if I should wait and level my professions until it comes out. What do you think?
I don’t think professions will reset, so you should be good.
You’re reading this wrong.
Each expansion now has its own rating for professions other than archeology.
You train each expansion’s profession, and level them independently. This way to you don’t have to go level a progression in bc or wrath areas to be current in the current expansion.
Shadowlands professions will probably quirk similarly. You’ll train the sl profession and level it 1 to 100 in shadowlands content.

Kirbo and Zungar, thank you both, It’s been very helpful. If I run into continued problems, I’ll come back to this line. Since the new expansion is coming soon, I’ll hold off professions for the time being. Plenty of other things to do. Thanks!!

If you open the profession specific tab you can see the levels in all expansion profession levels. Like for tailoring, you click on the spool of thread to craft and you’ll see that you have leveled other expansions past level one, but it will only display the one trained from the most recent expansion on the main profession tab. You will have to level each expansion separately, so you’d need to fish in each respective zone to level that zone’s fishing.
Edit: When you train shadowlands fishing you’ll be at shadowlands fishing 1, but the others will stay leveled.
