Hello Everyone:

Fishing and Bait. I would like to know all about the best type of bait and fishing gear available. That would render good results. I just got the Fishing Profession 5/100. And I have acquired a fishing pole: Fishing Pole Item level 1 plus a bunch of Shiny Baubles as bait.

Fishing seems to be so slow. I have a hard time seeing the lure in the water. And I keep getting old boots and seaweed and other junk.

But I will continue anyways. A friend told me that she made gold by fishing and selling fish in the AH. Can you make enough gold that way to make the fishing process worth it? Is there another profession that compliments fishing?

Anyways. I would like to know which bait is best to use? Also what gear I need to improve my fishing? Are there fishing nets you can buy or loot so you can catch a lot more fish with.

I know you can fish wherever there is water but can you recommend specific spots where there are a lot of fish? Can you make your own good bait with crafting? My friend told me there was some type of electronic bait thing the engineers make, but I don’t know where to get it?

I need some tips as how to make fishing profitable. And does fishing get easier and actually become fun at some point?

Fishing isn’t a “major” profession, so it doesn’t compete with gathering or crafting professions. I’m trained in Fishing, but also in Skinning and Engineering.

I’m the wrong one to ask as to money-making possibilities. Fishing is something that I do as a quiet, contemplative activity to relax. It’s not especially demanding, it’s quiet, I can put my brain in “park” and just let the thoughts bounce around. I don’t like to do that all the time, but it’s good to be able to do it some of the time.

You can fish anywhere, but it works better when you cast your bobber into a school of fish. You can track those on your minimap. Also, and it’s appalling how long it took me to figure this out, you can simply cast and cast again until your bobber lands where you want it to. This lets you get the most out of those limited-duration bait buffs.

As to the electronic bait thing … probably. I may have built one at some point but I don’t remember the details. You’ll have to hit up your friendly local engineer for more.
