Started shaman for the first time cause the avatar show looks cool and i like wildhammer lore, the initial gripes i heard about the specs was bloat/playing like a piano, theres still a bit i dont understand, like should i even talent primordial storm as a stormbringer and why does my rotation feel so inconsistent, why does frost shock exist if the ice skill can be a passive for it and proc, or should i do what im currently doing and not talenting frost shock and just keeping the ice one for maelstorm stacks, i also dislike the piano aspect, i try to keep my st rotation in a general area but primordial storm and few other buttons still feel like priority in st when my stacks are low or my stormstrike is on cd, im just bouncing all over the bar and even tho i got an idea how to play the rotation, ive been debating using obr just to give myself peace of mind
Do i open with primordial off the rip with the flame skill and then focus lightning bolts after hitting the other 2 cds, it feels like a soup sandwich, mostly a skill issue but i wonder if theres solutions yall might have that gives ease of use
It’s very similar to rogue and feral druid; You build up maelstrom and spend it. Also there will be downtime. It’s best to minimize it, but there will be globals with not much worthwhile to use. There are some good guides to builds and rotations on wowhead and icyveins if you are looking for specifics.
I like to think of it like building a tornado/electricity; You need heat, cold and wind. If you keep at it, eventually the rotation will just click and it becomes much more intuitive and powerful. Also more haste is always good to help reduce the downtime.
Lastly, set your keys with short or zero cooldowns to nearby, one-button presses. I like to use 1, F, V, X, E to winndstrike, firelash, crash lightnkng, flame shock and wind sheer, respectively. These are the builders. My spenders are 2, 3, and shift-W for heals, lightning bolt, and chain lightning for full maelstrom instant-casts.
Shaman was the original Classic Horde version of the Alliance Priest class. Not completely related to Dwarves. However, Enhancement Shaman is a lot of fun to play with melee dps and a high disregard for using too many totems!
