They forgot about the Brawler’s Guild entirely in SL, which I didn’t realize until prepatch. whoof!
I wouldn’t say they forgot, it’s more like they just waited for the dumpster fire subside before throwing anything else into it
Still enjoying things here. I’m tooling around the zones, discovering as much as I can, picking up caches, grabbing the 34 slot bag, mining, working on renown, etc. I’m doing a few dailies, but I’m really taking my time this go around. Kirsy isn’t even max level yet and my hunter who is hasn’t finished all quests yet. I still have 4 alts I’m planning to push through to level as well.
My guild is going back to RPing today. Ash found a nifty spot in the city that we’ll be putting down roots in, as long as no one infects us.
I think the only thing I’m not actively engaged in would be professions. Yet.
Toejam the Terrible quest is unreasonably wholesome. No spoilers, just do it when you get the chance. <3
Scaps, Taivan and the Dwarf are my 3 favorite quests, so far.
So, what I’m getting here is the experience is worth the price of the expansion. I haven’t bought it yet, as I have limited resources at the moment. But I’m not seeing anyone with buyers remorse like many of us had by this point in SL.
Oh for sure. I have yet to be disillusioned like I was in SL. There’s a few points of disgust, mostly centered around killing otters and wild doggos, but I managed to get by without killing many.
Also the end of the blue dragon oathstone was nice, got to see some faces we haven’t seen since Legion.
They have increased our quest logs to 35 from 25! HOO-RAY!
So far my only real complaint is that there are more non-dungeony things that require dungeons than I appreciate but that’s the social anxiety talking. I just stumbled across Hudson and, yeah, that’s a neat questline that will have to wait for an expac or so. A bummer but nothing particularly new.
Otherwise the quest writing has been fantastic, people have been generally pretty decent, & fun has been being had so
The spa questline is a fun one too. Last zone so many people may not have done it yet, but if nothing else I should be able to share this guy sans spoilers

Yup someone was havin fun designing these NPC mogs. My hooves may not make sandals and socks possible, but I wear them in spirit!
Spoilers for the Quest
The first time I did it I thought it was eerie because some absoluty insane person went through and killed literally every single otter in the cave before I got there. So I thought Toejam was playing with a mangled corpse of an otter when he picked one up. I feared for that little Tuskarr's life, only to realize I was wrong when getting a mining node a few hours later and seeing all the otters alive.Literal cackling.
Summary
Dumbest-best thing in the whole zone.
Azmerloth, and Deathwingmrgrgl… and I love every bit of it. xD
My only complaint: too short. Needs more mrrrgrrgl.
The whole thing was bonkers, getting to kill Deathwingrgl with fish-based airship weapons, the Murloc-alternat-you that helps you out, the little parade at the end.

Absolutely bonkers.
More on the murloc world:
Summary
I love how they included so many of the named murlocs from all over the game. Even Old Murk-eye from the Westfall lighthouse quest.
Unsolicited opinion:
I’ve ranted on here before about how Day 1 Sales of each WoW expac. They’ve grown or held well and that in the end it’s always the inability of Blizz to retain people that does them in. I guess we’ll see in two months if I’m eating my words here and hating things, but I don’t get that vibe at all, not even a bit. I am super comfy in this DF universe and I can see it being a place I would come back to, long after this expac is done.
Day 1 Sales: (Day 1 is defined by pre-sales and week 1 sales):
Shadowlands - 3.7 million.
BFA - 3.4 million
Legion - 3.3 million
WoD - 3.3 million
MoP - 2.7 million
Cata - 3.3 million
Wrath - 2.8 million
BC - 2.4 million
OG - 240,000
Day 1 of DF has yet to be released, but I’m curious as always.
I get the feeling that DF may be lower Day 1 (perhaps MoP level sales?) because of how horrible Shadowlands was. However, I also get the feeling that the retention long-term will be higher; which would put Blizz in a great spot. This is the first expac since MoP, that I’ve actually felt good about. I shouldn’t say it this early, but it just feels really solid. Although the “OMGDRAGONS” factor could give it a boost to a solid Day 1 number. We’ll see.
- They overhauled the professions, the UI and the general systems framework (*new quest log # increase also)
- We got a Dragon PC, which will grab some people.
- I’m actually paying attention to the story and all the little side stories, which hasn’t happened in quite some time.
- Sylvanas is NOWHERE to be found and thank the gods for that
- I like the renown system a lot. You get rewards while leveling up instead of just Neutral / Friendly / Honored / Exalted, which always felt a bit clunky. It feels more rewarding. Glad they kept this.
- It feels somewhat open-world to me, which I personally love.
- It feels unique enough to not be the ‘same old’ and yet familiar enough that I was instantly at home.
- The profession accessories will eventually be transmoggable.
- I like the new spec trees. I feel like I have more of a choice than I did with the trees way back when
- People seem to love the Dragonriding. I don’t mind it as much when I’m out just flying, but the leveling it up and racing is abysmal. (that’s personal though)
- As we go along, lots of cosmetics will be coming down the road - this is always good to keep it fresh
Also:
Otters, Ducks, Backpacks and please let me be a Kalu’ak.
ETA: I can randomly group with Horde to kill things and we all get credit. This is huge.
The conclusion to dwarf-dragons tale about his “friend that was a girl” (according to the wowhead writer).
I know I’m on stinky moon guard but if you want to run some normals to knock out the quest feel free to hit me up. I can tank or heal! We can probably bring in a few folks from the guilds on their alts so they can level threw the run too.
I’ve been slowly working my way through the side quests now that I’m max level and I really appreciate that they’re still relevant at max level for the renown they award. Also I would die for Taivan.
Yeah!! I been doing all the side quests and going to go for lore master. I’m really enjoying this expansion
Finally got around to doing the spa quest in Valdrakken and it was pretty fun. Pretty disappointed the elementals didnt turn friendly afterwards.
If we don’t get Tuskarr as an AR, Norman is going to pack up his things and move to Dragonland.
I am absolutely loving this place.
As someone who grew up in the American south, northerly places have always held a soft spot in my heart because it’s just not what I’ve known most of my life. (aside from several tours in the military where I was stationed/deployed in cold places.) There is something about it that just gets me.
I’m moving somewhere with actual seasons once the youngest is entirely on his own. (he has 3 yrs left of college)
Give me Tuskarr Blizz.
