They’ve always looked like how they do now.
No, they did not.
Here is my priest at the start of shadowlands after crafting the legendary chest

(I’m undead mary poppins y’all)
It’s more or less the PVP conquest set except you will notice the eyes on the skull glow while they do not on the PVP set.
For reference here is my priest currently xmogged in the PVP conquest set and you can see the skull now doesn’t have the spoopy glowy eyes

Maybe it changed later in Shadowlands when Sanctum was released or when I stopped playing my priest after Korthia but this is what it looked like for most of slands with my character. I think it must have changed though with this patch because I was still using this xmog during DF pre-patch until I replaced it with the new robes cuz I wanted something fresh.
I’m not crazy! The color of the cloth set DID change! I remember I bought the white cloth helm because it had a specific blue hue to it for rp reasons, so when I went to learn the appeaeance yesterday and saw it was red I was really confused.
That’s amazing. More power to those of you making the gold off it!!
putting on my big brain for a moment, im not a dev and im not a dev at blizz but my day job is working on aging software.
i wonder if what they basically did for most white and grey items is turn them into whatever the equivalent is coded for green, blue and purple BoEs. I noticed now when I equip white items they become soulbound, so I wonder if it was changing the values for those items to make them moggable.
However doing that left out items that were soulbind to begin with? its just a thought, always curious about that side of the house.
speaking of which i came across this post which was fairly interesting

i am fortunate to not work at a place or any place that has stack ranking but my partner has and its crap. i hope they do away with the stack ranking policy because its a stupid soulless process that exists to crunch numbers out of things that dont and shouldnt be crunched to begin with (people because they are not robots)
I’ve dealt with those sort of ranking systems and it’s wild. People coming in sick to make sure nobody finishes their stuff for dat rank.
There was a real cool looking BOP trash item that was a weird stringy belt with little holsters iirc – it is now a plain thick belt and still not learnable. Hopefully they add more of this stuff over time.
sorry i’m two days late but you are right. Wtf. That’s bizarre.
Exactly two months after release and I can say for me personally, I am having an absolute blast. I haven’t enjoyed an expac this much since MoP. I’m excited to log in, excited to run quests, excited to see everything and everywhere in Dragonland and check everything out. Much adventuring. I’ve even started RP’ing again and have enjoyed that as well.
I’ve also managed to run a few dungeons while they are current, which I haven’t done since Legion. I enjoy the Nok’hud Offensive the most, other than how fast people want to blast through it. I’m a slow poke.
yah!! i mean, im not complaining because hey I’ll take the mythic set xmog. dont have to wait to do xmog runs for it when im level 80 or 90
if you ever want to do slow poke dungeon runs with me lemme know, happy to do a normal or heroic and im the tank so i get to choose the pace lmao.
if you havent picked up the painting quest line, you should and I’ll be happy to tank those dungeons for or anyone else that doesn’t normally do current content. I’m geared enough that its not too stressful anymore.
Looks like they finally realized that mounts and punching bags actually aren’t wanted during the soup event.
Cannot express enough how glad I am that they made that change to the soup event, it was one of the things I wrote in to the accessibility email about.
Like the punching bags were annoying because people spamming their spells on it were causing extra lag, but some people were also placing anima cells near the soup pot and covering the area with things like the fel spreader etc.
Unrelated, who poured code red on my armory.
Completed the Renown 24 quest for Dragonscale Expedition. It’s wild how the story bread crumbs in Dragonlands actually makes me excited for what is next vs Shadowlands which was just one long drawn out disappointed sigh lmao.
Spoilers if you haven’t gotten this far!
It’s hinted in the Tyr vaults that the dragons fought undead once before and Malygos almost succumbed to it. Which is pretty neat story bit! Will we see the undead dragons(?) the Aspects fought? Will they return through some typical bad guy tom foolery or through an alternate timeline since Murozond is definitely gonna be a thing at some point.
