…and there is so much useless crap I need to take in the druid tree to progress my talents, it is very discouraging to earn a level, and a point, and then to realise that it’s a skill for cat form or something completely useless crap like remove corruption.

Remove corruption is not “useless” as you put it. I use it all the time to cleanse myself or a party member all while in bear form. When you play the real WoW and not just quest for fun it’s a very handy spell to have available.
I play the real WOW as you put it as you will see of my several AOTC from Legion and BFA ( did not really play shadowlands and DF ) and I’ll pick a damaging ability, a cooldown or a defensive any day of the week over remove corruption which is absolutely not useful while leveling.
The spell should be baseline, not a node you look forward to.
But let me be clearer if that spell didn’t do the trick. Why do I have to pick rake ? I can’t even use it because I am never in cat form.
Other classes gain benefit from 100% of their nodes in their general tree. Druids from around 60% if I thrust the path Icy Veins is telling me to take.
Those nodes should have four choices of skill, one for each specs IMHO
