First arcanist in 8.2 (spoilers)

From what we know it seems she does. It’s a good sign and I’m feeling cautiously optimistic as opposed to the outright despair of last night.

Still we have no choice, but to wait and see…

Though to be fair. When a Horde player automatically assumes it means death for their characters that might mean the card has already been overplayed.

That is not comparable. At all.

Delaryn was literally introduced to the story in order to die. The only reason she exists is because the writers wanted to raise the stakes but didn’t want to off an existing Night Elf character. Delaryn was created and died so that Maive, Shandris, etc. could live.

And Sira was a “who?” before the patch that made her relevant by killing and raising her.

They are still Night Elf characters that were killed and raised at the expense of Night Elf players. Sira was made as the Horde Warfront commander instead of you know… a Horde character. The Horde didn’t lose anything in the Battle of Darkshore. Instead of Nathanos being killed they got around it by writing this terrible plot in with Sira and Delaryn to just further kick the Night Elves while they are down.

Crack theory but instead of dieing watch Thaly get turned into a void elf.
Can a Nightborne turn into a void elf?

I guess we will find out.

Did you even read Elegy? Delaryn’s role was extremely charged and impactful in her short time on stage. It’s one of the few things that Blizz got right during the prepatch.

And I think that your interpretation of her purpose couldn’t be more wrong. Blizzard wouldn’t give a short story, a cinematic and a role of leadership to a character with no purpose.

Alliance players were outraged that she was stolen from the Alliance to go the Horde. I’d be interested to see your reaction were it Thalyssra considering how much you whine about Blizzard’s daily injustices against you.

Hey for what it’s worth, Thalyssra is also on our side in the next encounter over, so she clearly doesn’t die here.

She survives, and joins Lor’themar in rebelling against Sylvanas.

Hey now, back up.

Where’s this new info? I need it.

She appears in the Azshara fight, and what I think is the epilogue of the raid.

Thalyssra faces a ghost in Nazjatar, her greatest pupil who turned to Azshara (and is the first boss in the raid):

Wait… I sense a familiar force. The magic of a pupil I trained long ago.
Sivara? My greatest student. It was with my recommendation that she transferred to the Royal Academy.

Have you seen Arcanist Sivara?
“You know Arcanist Sivara? I just saw her! She has such pretty hair.
I heard she was trained by First Arcanist Thalyssra. She is super fancy.
Anyway, I saw Arcanist Sivara walk by just a few minutes ago. I think she is going to see the Queen. Didn’t you hear? Queen Azshara is right down the street! Maybe I’ll get to see her if I get away from these nasty guards.”

Sivara! No! You chose to serve Azshara?!
Your ambitions cost the people of Zin-Azshari their lives! For this? To earn the favor of your dark master?

Where is Sivara? The city is falling!
Sivara, my love! We should have fled this city together!

Hmm…

We’re interacting with the ghosts related to Sivara. That line most likely belongs to the ghost of Sivara’s lover, just as Sivara’s sisters ghost is also present.

Where is Sivara? The city is falling!
Sivara, my love! We should have fled this city together!
Thalyssra! Vile witch! You were the one who convinced my sister to serve at the palace.
Sivara… never… should… have listened to… you… Thalyssra.

They are various ghosts we fight.

I love the amount of backround we are getting for Thalyssra. It is making me like her even more. She is taking no crap from Azshara it anybody.

I love this line after Azshara mocks her…

“I am the First Arcanist of Suramar, and you are not my queen!”

We also get a little history on oculeth. He says he had a workshop in Zin-Azshari after…everything.

It actually is kind of sad to think about. I cant imagine how they feel. They saw this place and its people in its prime. Now they see it ruined and the people inside it restlsss undead.
