Why is rank 2 not cast more often as dev, with catalyze not reducing the duration just increasing tick rate. You “lose” 4 seconds (24 second DoT vs 20 second cooldown on average casting at rank 2 results in an 18 second dot. I mean I get the dot pandemics but it can only pandemic for so long. Is the reason for not casting it at rank 2 is because you are generally overloaded with resources and anything besides spending essence is bad? If so how can blizzard either make rank 2 more desirable, or make it so you don’t “waste” firebreath for ticks.
probably the opportunity cost of making the cast longer is not really worth it since the extra damage isn’t huge.
That’s what I’m saying, blizzard should incentivize rank 2 casts but there really isn’t any incentive bc it’s more damage to just slam a disintegrate due to resource flooding.
How does blizz incentivize making sure your not purposely wasting resources (fire breath dot ticks, essence bursts/ essences due to chaining, etc) it just seems weird that this spec has so much waste.
I guess I should have titled the post why so much resource waste lmao.
In the DF beta it was made very clear that needing to charge up fire breath for every cast was…not great… on a class that has to stand so close.
Especially with early expansion haste levels being what they are, and the fact that it’s one of two spells that we can’t cast while moving
That doesn’t answer the question of why does blizzard promote wasting damage rather than incentivizing not wasting it.
