Disclaimer that I really only casually PvP… but good lord trying out Frost with only a baseline understanding of the rotation was still miles ahead of Fire. You’ve got consistent pressure, things to do/press at any given moment, and a cooldown that isn’t completely anemic.
Fire needs love that isn’t in the form of Fireball buffs. Nobody wants to cast Fireball (in PvE either). You’re completely useless outside of Combust (again, same with PvE, but at least there you have a ton of uptime for getting it back up). Truly I think we need some sort of ex-Combust mechanic to be remotely competitive. I completely get that if Combust is too strong then we’re OP on any opener, but without access to the tools to keep the CD manageable in PvP, we’re just dead weight.
GPyro, for example, is just never taken really, despite being incredibly fun when done right. It requires a huuuge amount of setup for minimal payoff. Flurry and 2 Ice Lances basically does more damage - all instant. And Glass Cannon is just asinine - what other spec has to give up a ton of health for increased damage on their kickable filler? And what other Fire-specific PvP talents do we even have? A random Flamestrike talent (beyond useless)…and a budget Heat Shimmer sparing us a 1 second cast time? That’s literally it.
Very much propose that the four Fire PvP talents (World in Flames, Glass Cannon, Greater Pyroblast, and Ignition Burst) be completely revisited. Each of those three slots should give us a meaningful way of doing damage outside of Combustion. E.g. G Pyro could be an empowered spell that ignores LOS; World in Flames could make Flamestrike instant and on a CD with a pull-in effect; Glass Cannon could temporarily reduce your health and make Fireblast recharge super fast outside of Combustion; Ignition Burst could reduce healing taken from each Scorch; anything, really…!
