I feel like the buffs to fire mage are kinda missing the mark. The increase to all damage is fine but feels boring to me and the constant damage buff to living bomb feels like Blizzard is clueless about the ability.
- Living bomb main problem isn’t the damage it deals, but the amount of procs you get with it. Even if they end up buffing living bomb by 300% it would still feel bad to play with since you only get a 4% proc chance on lit fuse. When TWW went live they nerfer living bomb damage by 63%, reduced the proc chance by 11% and other talents as well. Now they’re giving us small damage increase over multiple patches. In my opinion they should buff the proc chance instead of the damage just so it would feel more consistent on aoe situation outside our combustion window.
- Combustion is basically all our damage output. I know most classes also gets a burst window every 1.30 to 2min on average with their main cooldown but their rotation doesn’t change outside of it. While playing fire inside combustion you basically go fireblast or phoenix flames into pyroblast as a machine gun. While that window is very fun to play (imo ofc) outside our burst window is just spamming fireball or scorch and fetching for procs to finally land a pyroblast just for it to deal 0 damage because you dont get a garanteed crit and don’t have the bonus crit damage of the combustion. Tbh I don’t know how to fix that other than reducing the cooldown on combustion or buffing the damage of Pyroblast.
- Mastery : ignite is boring and makes up for too much of fire damage. Our mastery deal % damage of our spell as dots to enemy. While this sounds great just dealing a bonus amount of damage for basically just playing the game, it feels boring and uninteractive. Ignite feels like the start of an idea that never went anywhere. Its missing something, maybe a chance on ignite tics to reduce the cooldown of combustion or making your next pyroblast deals bonus damage. Even then i’d prefer them lowering the mastery damage and put them in upfront damage on spells instead, Bigger numbers are more flashy and makes people go wow! I just feel like when I look at a DPS meter I would rather see pyroblast higher than ignite by a decent margin.
- Lastly, WHY IS FROSTFIRE BOLT INSTANT PROC NOT GUARANTEED CRIT!? What’s even the point of having another instant cast you can’t rely on outside of combustion? Oh yeah and pls fix frostfire hero talents cause they’re still buggy. Oh and while you’re at it, just add the spell overlay over the character it used to have back in MOP.
TLDR; buff living bomb proc chance instead of damage, reduce cooldown on combustion or increase pb damage, make ignite do something other than just another dot and make frostfire playable as fire mage.
