I just wonder … does anyone else have so big problems like i have with the small add the the Mastery?
“Every 2 sec, your Ignites may spread to another nearby enemy.”
When questing in Stormsong Valley, doing the quest " From the Maw of Madness" where one needs to fight a turned Samuel Williams … which takes quite a while because he has so many HP … i kept getting aggro from mobs on the deck below. Mid fight usually 5+ mobs came rushing to me …
And now at 120 playing in Nazjatar … i attack ONE mob … and then suddenly that stupid Mastery spreads to mobs that are not in combat with me and/or Yellow non aggressive mobs, so stupid.
Why doesn’t that stuff only spread to mobs IN COMBAT with me? Or Red aggressive mobs at least? Anyone else bothered by that?
The only way around that is to turn on Warmode and use the PvP talent: Controlled Burn. Downside is you have to be good at PvP but it is Fire at least
Yeah i could do that. But this makes no sense. The Mastery should … if at all, only spread to enemies in combat with me … like this its stupid. It makes Fire for me unplayable and in M+ if there is any CC i think it won’t care and still jump.
I could understand it if the Talent Conflagration does this(which it does) … because you can turn it off for World Content.
Anyway, this kills Fire for me. Don’t know if i continue to play the Mage … or put it to its early Grave.
Ignite cannot jump to targets that are already in CC. However if a target already has ignite then it will break CC that is applied to it. That is where the confusion of people claiming ignite spreading breaks CC because it does and it also does not.

Fire is terrible for world content and there is no reason to use it over Frost.
Combustion is completely overkill, but outside combustion you’ll be doing crap DPS, crap AoE/cleave, and taking forever to kill Nazjatar mobs. Fire also can’t kite and has the ignite-spreading issue. There’s just too many downsides.

Totally this! I tried out fire and while the combustion phase was a blast, the spec felt brutal in world quests…I felt squishier and mobs were taking a lot longer to kill.
Fire in Naz can be fatal with the mob clusters there… I mean just doing opening quests I died a good 20 times from extra aggro’ing stuff.
Outside that fire is still great, be a cold day in Azeroth when I don’t run fire

Its annoying to do solo mobs with the fire mastery, but my tactic is I pull 5+ mobs at once then kite/aoe down.
Most quests involve killing several mobs anyways, so its more efficient, and if planned out makes life significantly easier
Edit: that tactic is easy warmode because temporal shield is great. Alternating fire shield and temporal shield usage allows pretty good survivability
It’s definitely the most annoying aspect of fire (accidentally pulling mobs in dungeons is my favorite), but you learn to live with it. Spec into cauterizing blink on your azerite pieces and use your cooldowns to manage mobs. Fire survival is all about rotating molten shield, dragon’s breath, frost nova, blast wave, blink, and using scorch’s speed boost to get distance when needed. Save Ice Block until after ignite triggers to drop the debuff and keep the free health. Invis when you bite off more than you can chew. I’ve been doing ok for the most part so far.
Love pulling world content with fire. Warm mode on, GP squish, DOA. And what that silly Gnome said. Although I am not a scortch fan.
Nothing in this world is pulling seagulls with breathe helm, and hearing the screams of your guildie over disc yelling about fire mages and why we can’t take them anywhere. Its worth the admission fee.
