According to wow logs fire mages in raid are doing less than half the dps of top specs. Less than half! An arms warrior is worth 2 fire mages right now…
Yeah, not sure what the thinking is here. Fire Mages were already bad prior to all the nerfs, useful only in very specific high-end situations. For the general population of players, however, Fire is pathetically bad. Notice how everyone is STILL taking SKB? Yeah.
Living Bomb was causing performance issues due to how much spread it would do. The nerfs all came at once to it, I am guessing due to blizzard taking a look at how to tune the fire spec better.
The other thing to think about in the pre-patch right now is that specs are being tuned based on the beta and the hero talents, so things will be very weird.
According to Preheat Fire is completely in the dumpster. I bought TWW to play Fire Mage, this needs to be addressed before launch.
The spec plays very well, the numbers need to be tuned.
Exactly this, it’s very fun to play, then you look at the damage meter. And before people say “JuST pLAY whAT yoU lIke”, lets be real, if you’re playing a terrible spec you won’t be invited to keys or raids, that’s just how it is.
In terms of its playability, it really only feels good during combustion, which really is not up enough. I’d personally prefer all the cooldown reduction talents and SKB to go away completely and open up that design space for other stuff, and just make Combustion a flat 45 second cooldown.
I mean on the bright side arcane is fire atm.
And ice uses fire baby is back.
So I mean 2/3 specs being nice is pretty good. It could be worse.
Meh. I don’t like the other two specs playability-wise, so it just means the Mage will go on the back burner again (for me), like it has for every expansion since WoD.
You can get like 60% uptime on combustion ATM iirc
Yeah, if you take SKB (which I hate) and are really super on top of Shifting Power (which I also hate).
I know it’s possible, but I’d rather it just had a flat cooldown of 45 seconds and call it good.
I just feel like the passive LB spread was wholly unnecessary for a spec that already excels in…passive spread. Just have it do one big impactful explosion and be done with this tuning/fps mess.
